Parched English Fields Reveal Ancient Sites: Ancient Crop Circles?

Britain has had a very early, dry summer which has led to a few good things from an archaeological perspective. The parched English fields reveal ancient sites that had previously been hidden under fields of barley and wheat are visible in the current dry conditions. Many of this summer’s discoveries are pre-historic, many are from the days of the Roman occupation. All are exciting for archaeologists who are attempting to take full advantage of the dry weather to photograph the ancient crop circles, or as they are called ‘crop marks’.

The English countryside has revealed hundreds of these sites. The discoveries include Roman forts, World War II military remains and Neolithic settlements. Archaeologists are documenting the discoveries from the air. They are saying 2010 is a ‘vintage year for archaeology’. You can see some of the photos here.

Rick Sanchez Calls Obama ‘Cotton Picking President’

Today on his CNN broadcast, Rick Sanchez called Obama “cotton picking president.” Instantly, he was inundated with tweets about his insensitivity in using the term to describe the first black President of the United States. Thank God for the PC police. They’re always watching. However, I must say, Sanchez is getting the shaft in this deal. Obama is just what Sanchez said.

XINHE COUNTY, CHINA - SEPTEMBER 10: (CHINA OUT) A Uigur picks cotton in a field on September 10, 2007 in Xinhe County of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China. Xinjiang's cotton production accounts for over 30 percent of the country's total output. Xinjiang has been noted in ancient times along the old silk road as a political and commercial centre. It is the hub of an important commercial region, bordering Russia, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan with Pakistan to its south. (Photo by China Photos/Getty Images)

Well, he is. At least in the context of how Mr. Sanchez used the phrase describing Obama. Cotton picking President wasn’t describing his actions, it’s a term used to add emphasis or frustration. I’m not actually defending Rick Sanchez. I think the man is deplorable. What I’m actually defending is the term “cotton picking” as a term that describes one’s aggravation or irritation.

Former RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman Outed, Gay Marriage Now His Issue

After 43 years of battling “this part of his life”, former campaign manager for President Bush and former Chairman of the RNC, Ken Mehlman outed himself. Mehlman, gay and now admitting it, says that he will be a staunch advocate for gay marriage. This of course is something that he had to oppose publically while in the leadership for the Republicans.

Most people are saying that Mehlman was the last to know something that everyone around him already knew. Stories swirled around the beltway a few years ago about the sexuality of Bush’s 2004 campaign manager but he always denied the rumor. Now it turns out, the rumors were true.

David Rosenberg: ‘Depression, Not Recession Is What We’re In

Despite signs that the GDP and stock market were recovering just nicely thank you, we’re in a depression. David Rosenberg, economist and market watcher says don’t get to comfy with economic indicators showing a postitive up tick. He says that even during the Great Depression, positive gains in GDP and the stock market were not that uncommon.

U.S. President Barack Obama raises his hands after signing the financial reform bill into law during a ceremony with Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA), Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher Dodd (D-CT) and House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank (D-MA) at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center on July 21, 2010 in Washington, DC. A sweeping expansion of federal financial regulation in the wake of the worst recession since the Great Depression, the bill will create a consumer protection agency, lay out a blueprint for disassembling financial entities considered too big to fail, and many other reforms. Rosenberg is the first economist with any stature to throw out the dreaded D word. Some economists have been warning for a while that a double dip recession is possible, forget that nonsense says David Rosenberg, Depression II is here already.

obama vacation 2907

Senior Obama administration officials are aying that Obama is planning to give a major speech on Iraq as soon as he returns from the Obama vacation on Martha’s Vineyard. The place where the Effete Elite go to wine, dine and de-stress. He absolutely MUST get out from under the stress of his job. Between his six vacations so far this summer and having to golf every Sunday, he has had to go on campaign trips around the country for various and sundry democratic candidates. When DOES he find the time to run the country? Well, never mind. That was a rhetorical question.
