Our Warriors:

Echo9er and AubreyJ report on the return of airmen missing in action since World War II.

Since my son is a Tanker I have to throw a nod to The Dumb Ox who salutes the Patron Saint of Tankers, Gen. George Patton.

AubreyJ reports on two successful operations this week. Seven suspected insurgents were captured and Task Force Band of Brothers unearthed a cache of weapons.

The initial find of nearly 50 mortar rounds and more than a dozen fuses was found to be much larger when an additional 250 artillery and mortar rounds were unearthed in the same location, officials said.

Deployed Family Support annouces a Blue Knights Sponsor Purple Heart Ride to take place in Maryland.

Daily Life of a Marine Corp Mom has an update on her son’s leave at home. She offers a story that underlines how our Military impacts our young men and women.

I agree with you Marine Mom - they make us proud!

A Rose by any Other Name has a photo of one of these Soldiers. See how horribly they are treating the Iraqis!

Patriotism:

I couldn’t decide what category to put this under, but decided on ‘Patriotism’. Starboard!!! reports that Deployed Servicemembers Achieve US Citizenship.

Amid all the chaos regarding immigrants (both legal and illegal) in the U.S. , there heve been many voices that are missing. These are the voices of non-U.S. citizens fighting — and falling — for the U.S. There are a few out there that say that many of the newly sworn joined the service to become a U.S. citizen. Well, if that is the case, and people are willing to join an armed service and fight (and possibly die) on foreign soil, then this must be one hell of a country.

Well said!

War on Terrorism

A Fine Dry Wit makes an astute fine-dry comparison between President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Adolf Hitler. He highlights speechs given by both men and the comparisons in their statements are eerily similar.

Hitler claimed that he was protecting countries from the Russians, that England started both World Wars, and that Germany, Italy and Japan were being kept in poverty and treated dishonorably by the rest of the world.
Ahmadinejad , if he can rally other Islamic countries to “The Cause” by defending Palestine, could make for a long Summer. Look at a map of the world-see the territory Hitler started with, what he claimed and temporarily held-and then look at the Middle East/Islamic countries and tell me who’s whistling past the graveyard.

Say it ain’t so! The Religion of Peace is making death threats to actress Sienna Miller for taking a starring role in a movie ‘Interview’, a remake of a movie by Theo van Gogh.

Remember Theo van Gogh? He’s the director who was brutally murdered on the streets of Amsterdam for daring to direct a movie about Islam, ‘Submission, Part I’. His throat was slit as I recall (please correct me if I’m mistaken).

Thirdee at Code Red*Women for the Troops reports:

Warning letters have been sent to Sienna, 24, who is currently filming the movie in New York, stating “she will be sorry” unless she pulls out of the project.

“Sienna refuses to give in to these threats. The people behind them represent everything she abhors,” a crewmember told Britain’s Daily Star. “The film hasn’t got anything to do with Islam. But because it’s being made as a tribute to Theo, the Islamic fundamentalists have hit the roof.”

Funny - we hear so little about these things in the MSM!

Chas’ Compilations has an article on ‘Children Raised in a Murder Suicide Culture’. He has compiled a great deal of information about how these children are raised for suicide/homicide bombing. He also has compiled photos that are heartbreaking to see. Children being prepared to be suicide/homicide bombers.

Western liberals seem unable to recognize pathological death-obsessed mass movements. They assume that everyone basically thinks logically and rationally, so if people become suicide-bombers, it must be the fault of the people they are attacking; the attacker becomes the victim, the attacked becomes the agressor. The mass pathology continues unchecked and unrecognized.

He quotes Former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir:

“When the Arabs love their children more than they hate Israelis/Jews, there will be peace in the Middle East”.

Freedom Watch gives a report on a Jihadist Hate Demonstration in NYC.

Is It Just Me? has a some ideas as to a Fitting Punishment for Moussaui. [If you have a strong stomach, while you are visiting Is It Just Me? read her pretty in depth look at Kevin Underwood ('The Cannibal'). 'I Could Be Lured to my Death by Virgins']

Politics

The Violence Worker says It’s Time to Change the Rules about homosexuals in the military. He has an excellent post on why sexual orientation should not be an issue with regards to military service to the country.

Of course, a number of people are blogging about the Revolting Generals and Rummy. Crazy Politico’s Rantings says he agrees that Bush should have accepted Rumsfield’s resignation in 2004, but for different reasons. He makes a comparison with Colin Powell’s disagreement with Bill Clinton on the issue of gays in the military with how these generals are handling their disagreement with civilian leadership.

Publius Rendezvous reminds us that while we are focused on the War on Terrorism, the sleeping dragon is rising. We live in fascinating and terrifying times [my words].

The Bodie Spector has a post on how the illusion of ‘I support the troops, just not the war’ is falling apart as protesters are starting to attack our troops.

GPerson submitted some interesting history on the Canadian Flag, here and here.
