I have to get some work done, but this is just too good to pass up. Every once in a while I just have to post a feel-good story.
Michael Moore, who has become enormously wealthy with what he calls documentaries, twisting and rearranging facts, quotes, photos, etc for his own aggrandizement, is being sued by a mere American Soldier.
Of all things, An American Soldier!!! That is just such sweet justice.
I have no idea what the Soldier’s chances are against the mega-millions Michael Moore can throw into legal fees. Isn’t that ironic? Michael Moore who proclaims himself the champion of the little man is anything BUT a little man himself.
A double-amputee Iraq-war vet is suing Michael Moore for $85 million, claiming the portly peacenik recycled an old interview and used it out of context to make him appear anti-war in “Fahrenheit 9/11.â€Â
Sgt. Peter Damon, 33, who strongly supports America’s invasion of Iraq, said he never agreed to be in the 2004 movie, which trashes President Bush.
In the 2003 interview, which he did at Walter Reed Army Hospital for NBC News, he discussed only a new painkiller the military was using on wounded vets. “They took the clip because it was a gut-wrenching scene,†Damon said yesterday. “They sandwiched it in. [Moore] was using me as ammunition.â€Â
Damon seems to “voice complaint about the war effort†in the movie, according to the lawsuit.
But what the father of two from Middleborough, Mass., was really talking about was the “excruciating†pain he felt after he lost his arms when a Black Hawk helicopter exploded in front of him. Damon wasn’t expressing any opinion about the war, the suit charges, but rather extolling the drug.
“I just want everybody to know what kind of a guy Michael Moore is, and what kind of film this is,†said Damon. He has appeared in two films attacking “Fahrenheit†-“Michael Moore Hates America†and “Fahrenhype 9/11.†…
Particularly outrageous to Damon is the fact that Moore never interviewed him or asked his permission to use the old clip.
I hope this gets media attention, if for no other reason than giving this Soldier the opportunity to regain his reputation, his dignity and his honor.
It would also be pretty nice if Moore got to share some of his wealth. Since he advocates so sincerely for socialism I think he should have the opportunity to put his enormous money where his enormous mouth is.

Great post and I love the pic of Michael Moore at the bottom. When I heard this on Rush today I was so proud of this guy for suing. It makes me sick to think how many lies Moore has told and the gullible people who have believed them.

Michael Moore a legal victim of his editing….
Michael Moore has a long history of creative editing, in that he edits a scene for his movie to make it mean something out of context to what was filmed. He calls it editing. We call it lying and deception.
That he does so a…

The only thing I like better than seeing Bush’s approvals tanking is watching you all get excited over a lawsuit against a fucking documentary maker! Oh the BRAVE GOP, afraid of celluloid, gay marriages, the media . . . has it ever occurred to y’all that you’re just fruitloops bugf**k paranoid?
June 1st, 2006 at 8:51 am
The way you guys get worked up over a film maker…sad, really. My bet is that the guy agreed to be in the moore pic and is now desperate for cash because rethugs don’t do anything for vets. Isn’t it interesting that the lawyers involved are the same lawyers as the swiftboat people…just using a wounded vet for their own needs.

I’ll wager you are not anti-propaganda when The Bush Crime Family or the Pentagon foist it on the American public, in secret and against the law. After all, “everything changed after 9/11.” The Constitution is irrelevant now. We’re at war with…who is it today? Gotta kill them Iraqis to set them free.
Bush is wiping his ass on our service men and women, like he’s doing with our Constitution. The invasion was cooked up as a way for the cell phone & oil companies, etc., to increase markets. Go read the PNAC proposal from the late 1990s. You’ve been duped.
The is my first (and last, I feel confident) visit to this web site. All the nostalgic “nick-nacks” everywhere. This site is more visually cluttered than my mother’s living room.
And the nostalgia, of course, the longing for an imaginary time in the past, so delusional, so simplistic, so charmingly red-neck-y. I be you have a wagon-wheel coffee table, maybe even chandellier in your house / trailer.

My New Hero–Sgt. Peter Damon…
Hats off to Iraq Veteran, Sgt. Peter Damon who is suing Michael Moore for $85 million for mis-portraying him in his sorry excuse for a documentary, “Fahrenheit 911″….
June 1st, 2006 at 10:07 am
Particularly outrageous to Damon is the fact that Moore never interviewed him
Uh, then how did Moore get him on tape??
$85 million dollars because his rep regarding Bush might have been bruised–in Middleborough?? I live 10 miles from MB and believe me, being critical of the Dear Leader is no problem. Sounds like he’s just a greedy bastard who’s sick that for his limbs getting blown off the VA only gave him like $80,000 cash settlement and $1000/month for life, and now is looking to hit the Megabucks.
He may find that the Repuglican treatment of Cindy Sheehan/Max Clellan/John Kerry no longer means the media cannot trash him. Oh, the questions that may come up…How did he really lose his arms? What was he doing? Was he killing Iraqi children before that happened? Bombing a village?
Because if you think sliming a war hero is beyond the pale, you haven’t been paying attention. For years.

This lawsuit should be pretty straightforward. I imagine the vet gave power of attorney to someone in his family, so either Moore has a signed authorization form or he doesn’t.
If the vet can prove that
1. his statements were taken out of context
2. Moore purposely took them out of context
3. he experienced negative responses as a result of his statements being taken out of context
Then he’ll get damages.
Moore is an assclown, right up there with O’Reilley and company.

Seems there is a slight problem with this guys lawsuit- Michel Mooore didn’t interview him NBC news did, he signed a release (or if he didn’t his suit against Moore still has no grounds) Moore inturn purchased the footage from NBC(or didn’t seems like they would have done something by now).

I’m pretty sure “being taken out of context” isn’t an actionable offense.

Great…funny….true post. Mike Moore is such a loser. I am so tired of these valueless people running around offering no solutions, but only pointing fingers and slandering other Americans. I ask that Jenny Craig recruit Mr. Moore and put him to work as a failed project.

I’m as liberal as they come, but even I am glad to see this soldier standing up to that idiot Moore. Whether or not he gave his permission for somebody to use that footage, to have one’s words and image twisted to fit into such a propaganda film is beyond insulting to one’s honor, especially for a soldier who bled for our nation. Though it may be *legal* for Moore to have done what he did, it certainly isn’t morally right, and I hope that Sgt. Damon prevails in court. Lawsuits may be a pain in the ass, but unfortunately these days you can’t just call somebody out to the Field of Honor to settle things. Sgt. Damon may have lost both his arms, but I’d put my money on a double amputee US soldier up against Michael Moore in a fight anyday.

“Michael Moore who proclaims himself the champion of the little man is anything BUT a little man himself.”
“.. where his enormous mouth is.”
Oh, hahaha!! I get it, he’s FAT! Right? Wow. Just when you think you can’t get any funnier with that picture, I finally got the joke! Micheal Moore is fat! HAHAHA.
LMFAO. He is too, isn’t he. And the way you typed that? I actually didn’t get it at first but when I did - I spit on my monitor cause that is SOOO FUNNY.
You deserve some sort of comedy award, I think. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen such comedic acumen anywhere else!
Be honest - did you come up with that yourself? That would be pretty tough unless you were like, a pro comedian or something.
Cause everyone knows, only LIBERALS are EVER FAT! And so it’s like, a joke against liberals too!!
LMFAO!!!!
Wow. Man, please don’t stop!! I’m coming here every single day to catch your next zinger, I hope they’re just as good.
I see your readers are trying to get into the action - “I ask that Jenny Craig recruit Mr. Moore and put him to work as a failed project.”
Pretty damn funny but not up to your standard, at all!!
I mean, it’s just too easy to have anything of substance to say and as a Rethuglican, who needs facts when I can just go read Herr Leaders latest speech for the truth.
But the fat jokes - now *there’s* a real political wizbang.
Don’t stop! You’re amazing, and so talented!!

Particularly outrageous to Damon is the fact that Moore never interviewed him
Uh, then how did Moore get him on tape??
Chris, uh …. if you read the info about the suit, Moore took the tape from NBC who did the interview Damon had agreed to. He did not give permission for Moore to use the interview, as per Damon, Moore has never contacted him in any way.

For all the poor Right Wingers out there.
It most be feeling very lonely for you guys. Your ideas have been tried, and guess what ? they have been proven to be STUPID AND WRONG. We can now declare as fact that Moore was right, and you were wrong. 65% of Americans now believe that Iraq was a mistake, that is on top of about 99% of the world’s population thinking the same thing from the start.
Problem with Right Wingers is their incredible lack of world knowledge, and basic understanding of human behavior. They make a mess out of everything they get into and then they blame “Liberals” for calling their stupidity to their attention. Hilarious!!! Is like, don’t remind me that I am an Idiot, just let me be OK!! I am intellectually challenged and it Ain’t funny no more.
By the way, you think that Moore gives a rat’s ass about the law suit?
Please people, all of you and the other Fat guy Rush Limbaugh are really getting desperate. The reason Moore is a millionare is because he is popular!! The law suit is only going to increase his standing, and his bank account.
Hell, even the Dixie Chicks are having the last word on you guys.” Not ready to play nice” is a hit. Boycott that Rush!! Like I said… Hilarious, and pathetic.
Give it up. You lost. Is back to the hole now.

“Michael Moore, who has become enormously wealthy with what he calls documentaries, twisting and rearranging facts, quotes, photos, etc for his own aggrandizement, is being sued by a mere American Soldier.”
Oddly, this statement appears just to the right of an obviously doctored photo of Michael Moore. Last I knew, Mr. Moore preferred baseball caps to towels/rags/whatever-you-call-them.
Obviously, when one views a Michael Moore documentary, one must take into account the fact that he has arranged the footage in a particular manner to make specific points. However, if one excludes Mr. Moore’s commentary, the footage offered usually speaks for itself. My favorite quote from Farenheit 911 is delivered by Resident Bush himself: (Words spoken to attendees at a fundraiser) “It’s nice to be here among the haves and the have-mores. Some call you the elite. I call you my base.”
Ignore Mr. Moore’s commentary and examine Mr. Bush’s words; it speaks volumes about who is really important to this administration and who is not. Unfortunately for Bush supporters, most Americans cannot describe themselves as “elite.” Perhaps that has something to do with Bush’s current poll numbers, but, luckily for Bush, poll numbers don’t really matter as he has 2.5 more years no matter what Michael Moore or anybody else thinks.

In addition to all the deaths in Iraq, ours and theirs, a real tragedy is that, similar to Faux News, something like 65% of our troops think Sadam planned 9/11.
Where do you suppose they got that piece of false propabanda? Hmmmm?
