This makes me so proud!
I still believe history will reveal President George W. Bush as one of our greatest presidents.
AubreyJ has much more about the President’s trip to Iraq yesterday.
He quotes a Soldier who was there today. [btw - while I was visiting his site I found a video he did 'al-Zarqawi is Eleminated' - go see it, it's good!]
Aubrey also has a transcript of the President’s speech and reactions to his visit.
He also has information about the President addressing the troops.
And last, but not least, Aubrey has the video of the President addressing the troops.
Watching the video, I can’t help but notice that the President is so much more relaxed and is such a better speaker when he is speaking to ‘regular people’. I’ve seen him like this before, when he speaking to the American people and not to politicians or a room full of his enemies.
You can see his sincerity and genuine respect for the troops in this video.
Thank you President Bush for letting the terrorists know that we aren’t going to ‘cut and run’ regardless of what they are hearing on the MSM and from some of our Congressmen. You probably saved some lives today.
Great job of getting this together Aubrey!

He is more relaxed around “regular” folk. It shows, and he truely loves the troops.

I agree completely. I thank God every day that Bush was elected and not Gore or Kerry. I also pray every day that all the anti-war, anti-Bush idiots don’t prevail. I know that Bush will do everything he can to see that they don’t. It just drives me nuts to hear them talking about how BUSH has made the world more dangerous. What delusional crap! (Sorry - I’m venting)

You have to come to my site and see a post about a Flag Officers Conf on Iraq @ Ft. Carson, CO.
It’s an amazing analysis about the situation in Iraq.

How long can fear dominate the foreign policy debate in America? If the House Republicans have any say in the matter, the fear mongering will last at least through the mid-term elections in November. House Speaker Hastert is helping to push a meaningless resolution claiming their efforts will insure Americans do not need to fight terrorists “in our neighborhoods.†When our ‘leaders’ put it that way it makes my whining about gypsy moths seem real small, doesn’t it?
But the GOP political machine working in the guise of real policy making is a sham and every voter should be repulsed by it.
These are the same folks who dragged America into a war and now they are telling us that everything is going along fine, the framework to democracy is being constructed, and that nasty civil strife will all go away as soon as the big bad wolf just goes away. Then everyone can live happily ever after.
How idiotic does the House Republicans take the country to be? To gauge from the rhetoric it seems quite idiotic. Karl Rove told a gathering of GOP henchmen this week that Democrats would have terrorists succeed in Iraq if it were left up to them. The crowd had no ability to understand the terrorists came into Iraq AFTER our overthrowing a government created the power vacuum. Those peaky details!
It is also absurd since many of these same GOP members also are showing hesitation about pumping more reconstruction money into their own war. To me this is the biggest disconnect of the logic train from that wacky party. If the GOP had any honor (stop smirking) they would give back their tax cuts and ante it up for nation building in Iraq.

Allen Drury - your ‘pesky details’ are well understood. Anyone with any understanding of the dynamic of this war and this enemy understood from the get-go that terrorists would come from all over the world to fight us there. That shouldn’t have been a surprise to anyone.
It IS a world conflict. They DID I attack us. Have you forgotten so soon?
Reality is very frieghtening, I understand that. That’s why you need to go back to your house moths and let the military handle the war.
Don’t worry your head about it. You clearly don’t understand.

Had to jump in…
I ask you this question and I do so because no one else will. If we had not gone to war with Iraq, what would the war on terror look like now, at this moment on this day?
I’ll give you a quick look at what I think. Everything would be the same except instead of all the hell we went through over in Iraq, it would have all been back in Afghanistan and much, much worse. With or without Iraq in the mix… these crazies were coming after us no matter where we fought this war. And when we do come out of Iraq… Guess what…? They WILL follow.
One last thing… so many from the left, middle and right have become victims of their own short term memory. My point is this… No matter what your political views might be… one thing is for certain. In these days of fast news and even faster life styles… we all seem to have forgotten those moments in history that so abruptly and tragically changed this beloved Country of ours………
911- How soon we forget.

Amen and Amen Aubrey!
In the days after 9/11 my husband said in time the ‘weak and the cowardly’ would forget. I told him there was no way. It was too horrible. It was worse than Pearl Harbor. I really didn’t believe him.
He was right.
June 15th, 2006 at 9:53 pm
To be honest, Beth… I think you both were right.
I say this because I truly doubt anyone has really forgotten the day 9-11. That’s the problem though. It has become just another day.
It seems to me what so many have forgotten… is the extreme magnitude of the events of that day… and the repercussions those events brought onto us all.
