Yesterday an American Soldier told me that nobody cares about Soldiers. There wasn’t the tiniest hint of self-pity in his words. It was stated as fact, just simple cynical fact.
Me, being me, declared ‘YES they do. Many people do. The AMERICAN PEOPLE CARE!‘ I said it with passion and conviction.
‘Why do you think that?’, I asked.
‘We are pawns in a political game.’ he replied. He told me about how the guys over there all talk about it - privately. They see the news, they hear what people say. They know they are expendable.
‘It’s disheartening’, he said. Again said not with self-pity - just as fact.
I went into a tirade about how the loudest people are getting all the press and that he shouldn’t let that influence his attitude. I told him that most people, MOST people understand and know what they are doing there. Most people love and appreciate them and what they are doing. I told him that the average person isn’t like John Murtha, or John Kerry, or Air America, or any of the other narcissists that are willing to use the Soldiers’ lives for their own political gain.
In fact, I told him, most people despise those people for their carelessness with the lives of our Soldiers.
He listened, or didn’t listen, but he waited till I finished my onslaught in defense of the American people. Then he replied. ‘We know.’ That’s all. Just ‘we know’.
I felt like crying. I still feel like crying over it. I wanted to jump through the phone and make him understand that people do care. What he is doing is honorable and the people are behind them 100%.
But I’m powerless to make him understand. I’m powerless to make people understand how harmful words can be. I’m powerless to change anything.
All of this was in response to me asking him some questions about what they are doing. He skirted around my questions, but he finally started telling me what he could about his work.
‘We are having to train our troops to not shoot until we are certain that we are being shot at.’ He said they were training the troops to not shoot just because someone is shooting, they have to make sure they are shooting at them.
I asked, ‘What - you have to wait till you’re shot before you shoot?’. ‘Pretty much,’ he replied.
He told me that after the incident in which two Soldiers had been mutilated he had to have a long talk with his men about saving the last bullet for themselves should they find themselves over run.
‘You have to ask yourself, would you rather your mother get a letter that you died in battle or that you died mutilated with your penis cut off and crammed down your throat.’ he told his men.
He told me about ‘cultural sensitivity’ courses they are being required to take. He said the word around is that everybody is skittish about the ever present cameras and newsmen. They have to make sure nothing can be interpreted in the press to make the Americans out to be the bad guys.
‘Everybody’s afraid to pull the trigger. If you don’t pull the trigger, you might be killed, if you pull the trigger you could be ending your career.’ He added, ‘They’d really rather us be killed than get any bad press. So we aren’t supposed to pull the trigger.’
I’m watching Israel go after one Soldier. They refuse to leave this one Soldier to the horrible fate that the Palestinians undoubtedly would have in store for him. The news is calling it a ’stand-off’. It’s not a stand-off. Israel is beating the daylights out of them. But the press is doing all it can to give the Palestinians hope that they might be able to live through a real all out assault by Israel.
Why won’t America do that? Why does America tie the hands of our troops? Why don’t we kick the press out of the platoons and let them do what they need to do? Why would we RATHER OUR SOLDIER’s be killed than get bad press?
We are getting bad press ANYWAY. I’d rather the world RESPECT us than like us. No one can respect THIS kind of weak, lily-livered fighting.
It’s all so silly and at the same time so sad.
How does a mother stand having her child in this battle with the worst of the enemies being the American media and progressives who would see our Soldiers dead than admit there is a real threat from the islamic world.
I thought we learned that lesson in Vietnam.

“Americans” who are opposed to the War on Terror, or parts of it, like the campaign in Iraq that is currently ongoing, direct their opposition at the civilian leadership, the politicians. And “americans” who are opposed to the War on Terror, or parts of it, like the campaign in Iraq that is currently ongoing, direct their opposition at the soldiers, the politicians, and everyone else that’s not standing beside them doing the exact same thing. The essential difference between “Americans” and “americans” is that one group believes in the country, the Constitution, the “Declaration of Independence”, etc., etc.; and the other does NOT. One group is committed to upholding the principles upon which this country was founded, and the other group is committed to undermining those principles. One group swears allegiance to the flag of the United States, and the Republic for which it stands; and the other group swears allegiance to “the world”, “mankind”, “humanity”, “the proletariat of the people”, etc., etc.. When you find yourself reading newspaper articles or watching TV reports about demonstrations, or conferences, or speeches, first determine if you’re reading about or watching “Americans” or “americans”. Once you determine this, you’ll be able to quickly determine what and how you’ll say and/or do next. God bless America! Let’s Roll…

To the Nam vet,you didn’t lose Vietnam, the left lost us the war,my father like you saw action in the same conflict.I’ve always considered Vietnam Vets true heroes like their predeccesors, and I have nothing but utter contempt for the left, they don’t support the even what we are doing in Afganistan, they tried to undermine that three weeks into the fighting by labling it another Vietnam, and Fat Teddy did his usual stupid rant even on that. How come we don’t here anything from our drive-by media on what is going on there?!Only if a Scandal or phony Koran story breaking which cost people’s lives needlessly, this is the irresponsible reporting is all the American People get, also, notice how the left goes out of its way to downplay the last administrations follies that led to us losig 3000 people on 9-11.But like i heard a WW2 vet say,we are there now,so constant protest is a waste of time!

TO VIETNAM ERA VETS:
You DIDN’T fail your country! You did everything that was asked of you and so much more! You were betrayed…
You know, it’s still a popular idea to think that everyone in this country is a Red-White-&-Blue “American”; but it just isn’t true. Not all “believe” in the principles the USA was founded upon. A vast number of folks who were born, bred, and raised here DON’T believe in the Constitution or the Declaration of Independence. Their numbers have been growing every year for the PAST CENTURY, and since the 1960’s they’ve been coming out of the woodwork like gangbusters. They believe in the Gospel of Marx; the anthem of Lennon (”Imagine”), and the utter beauty of one world government for all (be it under Kofi Annan or some other idiot).
Recently they’ve been referred to as “an influential elite”. Three truer words were never spoken; and what an understatement too. The “influential elite” control the MSM and Journalism Schools in this country. They control the faculties at every major University and nearly every Divinity School as well. They control Hollywood (and Madison Ave.) and all the little moron “wanna-be’s” who’ll say and do anything to get a “part” and be a Star, or writer, or cameraman.
They’re christians but not Christian, they’re jews but not Jewish, they’re muslims but not Muslim. They’re in control of most unions and give the impression they’re doing the best they can against a “corrupt” system, instead of truly doing everything that can be done to benefit today’s union members and strengthen the country’s industries for tomorrow’s union members. They’re in control of the majority of today’s teachers and each year most of America’s children suffer more and more damage because of their control (never has so much money been given to so many teachers for so little “teaching”).
While most unions are dying in the private sector, they’re growing among government employees, and government services are getting more expensive and less efficient by the year.
The “influential elite” have a number of other very “influential” organizations under their thumbs; three “Jumbo’s” are: the NAACP, the Democratic National Committee, and the (surprise) ACLU.
What is it about what I’ve just said that most people don’t believe? Most people don’t believe that something this underhanded and diabolical could ever have been perpetrated on the “American” people by other “Americans”. And in a way that’s true. But what we’re dealing with are “americans” and NOT “Americans”. There’s an awful BIG difference!!!
It’s high time we stop dreaming and believing in fairy tales. It’s time to wake up and see that we’re in the eye of a hurricane and the best years of our life, and those of our children as well, may be behind us. All of us!!

When Busch Senior took us to war I cried for days. I watched the propaganda on the news, and I never missed Nightline. I prayed. I didn’t cry this time. I refused to listen to the hype. I just got mad and knew the truth was being shattered by “spin politics”. They even use “Support the Troops” to keep America from questioning the actions of our leaders. Yes, I love and respect our military men but no one could speak out in time to stop the war from starting in the first place for fear of not “supporting the troops”. They used our love of our fighting men to start a war based on lies. Now we are in a war we will never win as long as our enemy believes they are fighting a holy war. Lives will be lost BUT maybe we can continue the profits for THE RICH OIL MEN. But are we really saving our freedom over there? Bring our men home. They should be home with their loved ones. There is enough danger at home.

I served in Vietnam and saw the Media completely distort the truth about many of the battles we fought. We won most of the battles but still lost the war because the country didnt support the troops. The Media, Democratic Congress and college students were the reason we pulled out of Nam without a clear cut victory. Leave it to these same individuals and we will pull out of Iraq the same way. The liberals in this country support the enemy more than they support the troops fighting to give their sorry asses the freedoms they have. The Democrats and Liberals seem to have a cut and run strategy on everything we get involved in. Today all the terroists are going to Iraq to fight against Iraq becoming a democratic nation. I had rather the terroist fight and die in Iraq than be in this country killing and maiming. We lost more people to terroist on 9/11 than we have lost in all the time we have spent in Afganistan and Iraq. Think about it!!!!!!
