The New York Times has published the addresses of the private homes of Vice President Dick Cheney and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfield.

Not just that, they have provided maps and photos of the homes!

I suppose it’s part of ‘the people’s right to know’. Surely it wouldn’t be a ‘payback’ for the trouble the Times got from the public for publishing classified documents about the war and TROOP MOVEMENTS. [yes I'm being sarcastic]

Looks like Bob Keller at the Times is having a hissie-fit. I guess he’ll show the administration a thing or two about the use and abuse of power.

The power of the press just put the Vice-President, the Defense Secretary and their families in harms way. Now any and every crazy that wants to find them just has to follow the map - including jihadists.

This, of course, was published just after Vice-President Cheney slammed the New York Times for publishing national classified information. Timing is everything.

The really weird thing is, they don’t see their own hypocrisy.

h/t to E. L. Fredrick who has some good suggestions. Maybe a stint in Gitmo could serve two purposes. It could teach them a lesson, plus give them access to the OH SO OPEN GITMO that they claim is so secretive.

Hot Air has a ‘must-see’ video. New York has been the target of terrorists attacks for 16 years. The New York Times is continuing to make it easier for the terrorists.

Michelle Malkin is outraged: ‘There is a concerted, organized effort to dig up and publicize the private home information of prominent conservatives in the media and blogosphere to intimidate them.’

Riehl World View says What’s the Big Deal? What’s good for the goose is good for the gander. Looks like all out war to me ….

Macsmind says Keller and Baquet [LA Times] are over explaining.

A Tic of the Mind’s Eye has an idea about the future of American justice.

Red State exposes the left’s hypocrisy over the publication of private information.

Seixon has an interesting post on his (her?) own experience with the intimidation tactics of the left.

Okie on the Lam writes on Keller and Baquet: ‘both thumb their noses at anyone in government who doesn’t believe in the press’ right to be the one that determines what will and won’t remain classified. After all, those in government, not the bureaucracy of course, are merely elected representatives of the people — but we newspaper guys, we’re gods!’

Atlas Shrugs says the New York Times is out of control.

Others: Verum Serum, Old Dogs of War,

UPDATE: Proof they don’t get it. At the Huffington Report: ‘In the days following the NY Times story, I bet Al Qaeda assassins immediately began targeting international financial auditors.’

How do you explain it to someone who has that kind of concrete thinking? Where do you start to explain how the world works?

That same Huffington article ends with: ‘In reality all they have done is written about a program that should have produced a lot more results than it should have.’

They didn’t feel that way about Valerie Plame ….. how odd that their outrage is only triggered when it damages the President (damaging the country is just an aside necessary to get at their real target - the President)
