There has been a lot of discussion lately about the importance of gender in the blogsphere. You missed the discussion? Well, it’s around.
The Cotillion has been elegantly and graciously taking on this issue lately. [The Cotillion is ALWAYS elegant and gracious]. Linda explains why some women feel they must do Boudoir Blogging and vlogging in order to get attention from male bloggers. Raven wonders if that is what you have to do to be successful as a female blogger.
But while that might bring attention - does it mean the men take the women seriously?

Some prominent male bloggers have suggested that any female blogger who is reasonably good looking should put her photo on her blog. They suggest that will increase their readership dramatically.
I posted a topless photo of myself one time and it didn’t increase my readership by a single person!
Most of the guys don’t really get the issue. Others laugh at it. This gender war has gone on for as long as there have been men and women on the earth. It’s just progressed from men bonking women on the head and dragging them to a cave to them panting after them on the internet.
Frankly, I’m not worried about it. I think it says a lot more about the men who go to female blogs hoping for a glimse of boobs than it says about female bloggers.
And THAT’s ALL I have to SAY about THAT.

I thought the Cotillion was all about cleavage??? I must have joined the wrong group. Personally, I like many female bloggers, with few exceptions. When you get too snotty & feel that your boobs are more important than your brain - you need to be removed from the political blogosphere & put in the adult industry blogosphere. That should get you some hits along with the topless photo!

ahh there are always idiots that will judge a poster/bloger/person whatever by their sex, or race. Personaly I’ve never understood that. My father always taught me “judge all people by their content, God knows you’ll meet enogh ass**les of everykind”.
As for the topless picture I think it was due to the glasses….

I’ve always been one to say that I thoroughly enjoy being female and get a lot out of getting taken care of by my hubby, too. But in the blogging medium, I don’t think a lot of TnA should be used by either sex to get attention. I find that the thought going into a post or the level of knowledge a person has about a particular topic is good enough to grab my attention.
For some female bloggers out there, who feel like they have to dress scantily or bounce on a trampoline to get hits, that’s so very sad. But they exist, and we can “change the channel.”

Thanks for visiting FBO and The Blogs of Summer. I think TTLB must be wacked right now as Technorati says my links are increasing and my rank is improving - whereas TTLB shows my increased traffic but no more links! Ridiculous! lol. Keep bloggin’ lgp

A lot of the people online claiming to be women are really men. I suspect it is the same with blogs.

I love getting the “hits” on my blog and I enjoy the comments, but I have never felt the need to self-promote…oh, okay, I lied…I LOVE being nominated for Blogs of Summer and begged for votes!
(I’m voting for you, though, Beth!)
Beth, you are awesome and women bloggers are wonderful! Keep up the great work!
