I’ve seen comparisons between the fascists of the 20th century that set off World War II and the fascists of today that seem determined to set off the Global War on Terrorism for the 21st century.
Today I ran across the following time line at 4theLittleGuy. I thought it was a pretty clear-cut comparison and worth repeating. He cross-posted this at Noisy Room.

When looking at these timelines, several things become apparent to me:
1. The Soviets are definitely not our friends. They tend to deal with anyone who is our enemy and anyone who loves a fascist state. I have always said that the ‘kindred soul’ that President Bush said he saw in Putin was nothing more than ‘evil’ heartburn.
2. The same brave players in WWII are the same brave players of today. Re: Britain, Poland, Australia etc.
3. The French do whatever is safest – in WWII they began by coming out against Hitler and then surrendered later on. This time they went straight to surrender with Chirac at the helm.
4. The US is hesitating once again on diving in. How long and bloody the current conflict will be is directly proportional to how long it takes the US to take their head out of the sand and attack Iran, Syria and probably North Korea.
5. As in WWII, you have impassioned speeches from fascists stirring the crowds to hate against the Jews. In my opinion, Qana was a set-up to harvest hate against the Israelis due to the deaths of children. The building where they died collapsed 8 hours after the bombing indicating that Hezbollah set the scene and sacrificed their own people to gather international favor.
Meanwhile while all of this is occurring, the Iranians have succeeded in taking attention off their nuclear ambitions. This was a well-played hand on their part and they will gain just enough time to finish preparations for their part in the World War to come. Make no mistake, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a modern day Hitler and will not rest until he accomplishes the eradication of the Jewish State and the United States. Giddy up, folks - whatever you see occurring in Israel will come home to us here in the US and soon.
No doubt, Iran will receive useless sanctions from the UN which they will scoff at as they are doing now. Their objective is to control all of the Middle East and they have patiently and slowly over the years infiltrated Europe with their radical believers in order to conquer those countries from within. This may be the most insidious and quiet conquering of the known world that this planet has ever seen. The same is being done in the United States but far more slowly. Radical Islam can now be found around the globe and they are just waiting for a green light to attack – some of them are here in America.

It amazes me how obvious this all is and how “blind” people want to remain.
