As the government now restricts more items from being carried on a airplane, you will say it is a necessary evil. I say it is just that evil. I am critical of the current administration’s tatics because everything seems to be reactionary. If they possessed half the knowledge they claim to why wouldn’t those liquid items be restricted before? In the end as our freedoms are slowly but surely being erased, the real winners are the terrorists. Whether or not someone dies in their plans has become irrelevant. Fear prevails. Freedoms are lost.

This country was founded by men who regardless of fear wanted more freedom. We should be ashamed of what we are doing. Imprisoning people in Guantanamo without due process? That is a lowly shameful way to operate. Only cowards and tyrranical mindsets do such things. Fear goes all the way to the top.

You talk of sacrifice for the freedoms we hold dear. The freedoms are up for sale for safety. In actuality most of the right are so scared of losing what they have they will glady give up their rights to feel better even while the current leadership of this country is dancing around trying to figure out what to do.

I have wanted to comment on Donald Rumsfeld’s speech to the American Legion Convention since I first read Beth’s post at Blue Star Chronicles. Ernesto blogging shifted my focus away from this story and I thought perhaps it was a bit of old news. But …

If the media was interested in doing some reporting, they should ask these questions to the congressional candidates for the fall election and publish the responses.

They are serious questions that can not be dismissed with sound bites.
