Disaster Preparedness

Who helps when a disaster strikes?

It seems to me that a lot of people wait for someone else to come to their rescue, or to help others in need. People will often stand on the sideline helplessly looking on when there is need. But there are things each of us can do to help ourselves, our neighbors and our communities.

When we need a helping hand, we need to look at the end of our own arm.

Here are a couple of suggestions of what you can do so that you are not so helpless when disaster strikes. You can be part of the solution.

Thanks to Kat at CatHouse Chat for plugging this. Please pass it along. Instapundit plugged it, but missed to opportunity to be linked to CatHouse Chat thud

Also Alabama Improper reminds us:

For those of you who might be interested, join me on WideAwakes Radio this afternoon (click on the mic in the upper left corner for the stream) for my Sunday Thoughts program. I’m starting (AGAIN!!!) to try to memorize Romans, chapters 5-8, and I’ll be talking about 5:1-2 today.

The show “airs” at 4:30 p.m., ET, and it would be an honor for me if you choose to tune in!

UPDATE: MUCH more info here at CatHouse Chat.

UPDATE: Is It Just Me writes about Surviving CPR

I am alive today because of CPR performed on me over 20 years ago. I was a victim of drowning, having been caught in an undertow. Fortunately for me, a doctor was on the scene and was able to revive me.

Beth, I bow to your grace and service!

Thank you so – SO! – much for plugging First Aid training and volunteer service. Too many communities rely only on volunteers – and those volunteers are streched very thin.

Thanks so much for encouraging others to train in First Aid – and, God willing – to train with Fire Rescue and Emergency Medical Services! We need men and women who will step up to the plate to love and serve their communities this way!

    Lemons into lemonade…

Glenn Reynolds quoted me recently, but didn’t mention my name… I got a little miffed (which was wrong), and so I’m going to try to get some sort of blog burst going about the REAL issue: Volunteer Fire and Emergency…
