Actor David Caruso plays Horatio Caine in CSI: Miami.
He’s got a floppy head. We call him ‘the guy that always stands sideways with his head down’.
Is it just me or does anyone else have the urge to cram a rod through his head, down his neck and back to hold his head up?
Lady Jane thinks he ought to hold his head up too.

Oh my goodness! This is hilarious. My sister and I always joke about his “head tilt.” We make fun of it constantly and joke about setting up a website that counts the head tilts, the hands on the hips, and the removal of the glasses.
Too funny!
That still wouldn’t stop the bad one-liners.

Here are some great stories and posts from the beginning of this week:-Angel asks WhaT does BBC stand for again? at Woman Honor Thyself.
That IS funny, Jane! I really wondered if I was the only one that it drove crazy! We laugh about it all the time.
And you are right about the one-liners! We were talking about those tonight. He always stands sideways, looks down, then makes eye contact for about a second, then looks down again, makes some one-liner, then lets the one-liner hang there as he steps away, putting his sunglasses back on.
ROFL.
You’re absolutely right. That is Horatio Caine’s M.O. Hilarious!
I think Paris Hilton has that same problem (among many!!). I guess they think they look more attractive that way. What a hoot!
I’ve noticed I do that in photos too.

There was a ton of head tilting in last night’s episode! My sister thought it would be funny if they filmed an episode from Horatio Caine’s point of view and had the camera tilt all the time!
I think last nights episode is what got me writing this post! It about drives me nuts! Your sister’s idea is hilarious! I think that would be a hoot.
I know! Thanks for the link!! I live on the West Coast, so we hadn’t seen the episode last night, when I came across your post.
I was also thinking about something I read a few years ago. Someone wrote into some celebrity columnist/answer man and asked why David Caruso always has his head angled, etc. The columnist answered something like “apparently he thinks that’s acting.” It makes me laugh to think about it.
I just can’t stand it,does he know how annoying it is, hate looking at him this way!!
My husband says he likes him because he’s pithy! lol
What do you think of having a Horatio off by having an annoyed crime scene processing tech stick him with a contaminated syringe and have him suffer from an agonizing infection in his crooked neck.
Creepy, creepy creepy! horatio is just SUCH a wrong-un!
but i guess he is american, what can you expect?!
OK, I thought I was the only one who attempted to watch the show but gets completely annoyed by David standing sideways. My God! Why does he do this. Is it his “good side”? Does he think it makes him mysterious or hot or what? I get to the point during reruns that I feel like I am tilting over too! I have to get up and walk around and stretch my own neck. UGH!!! I heard there are drinking games surrounding his one-liners. Perhaps there is one that would stop everyone from drinking if he actually stood up straight and faced the camera for more than 2 seconds.
MY neck hurts from watching him. I googled it because I was thinking David Caruso had a medical problem or something he is attempting to cover up by slouching all the time. I swear, he must have a spinal deformity. I can’t see how he walks around like that, with everything all askew.
I’m afraid that if Horatio’s hands were ever tied behind his back, taking them off his hips, he most definitely would fall to the ground leaving his bobbing head to absorb most, if not all of the impact…OUCH! LOL. Maybe if forensics were to examine his head-tilting, sidways poses and one liners, it would come up with a solution that could help to end this…Hmm?

Could be the Barney Fife impersonating that has him doing this, too…Not really sure…LOL, though it look good when Barney did it.

He is the most ridiculous looking man on that show. Put a halo on his neck or something. It is overly annoying. I can’t keep up with what is going on for looking at his neck and head.
i dunno whats up with everyone but i think Horatio’s great.I love him and his neck and his one liners.
I just started watching CSI Miami faithfully in the last few months. I absolutely adore David Caruso. Instead of laughing at him for the head tilts and the standing sideways…maybe have a little understanding. I noticed the side standing and head tilt immediatley and did a search for him having a movement disorder… There was nothing public about this disorder linked to him, but I am positive that is what he has…because I have it. I named the disorder on this site, at first, but took it off for his privacy! Being a former Model…it kills your self esteem and you mask it (because your neck locks..notice even when they show him straight on that his head still has a tilt.) (It is also very hard to look someone straight in the eye for very long as your head and neck will lock and twitch) I hadn’t watched him in years..and I noticed it right away…because it’s exactly what I do to mask it. Stand sideways, looking down is involuntary and sometimes the only way you can unlock the muscles in your neck. So then you turn to the otherside..and then turn again. I also notice they turn the camera’s away from him alot or quickly after he says his one liners. Putting his glasses on may look cool…but it is also a way for him to stand straight momentarily, taking the focus off of his neck. Steadies his head with a little support movement ..such as putting on your glasses…They are working with him to mask these symptoms. He is the big star there and it wouldn’t be the same without him..so they’ll work with him. I am 100% positive this is what it is, even if he doesn’t know it yet. Which I am sure he does, but it is a very private condition. It is much more common then most of us realize..even myself when it happened to me. So I think we need to have compassion and understanding because right now there is probably a friend or family member that has it..or the onset hasn’t started yet. It’s a very humiliating and frustrating condition…so respect David Caruso rather than scoff at him. All I had to do was type in “why is David Caruso always tilting his head to the side?”..and this site came right up with all kinds of reference to it. Give the man some peace for God’s sake…I think he’s amazing!
I love the show but it would be ust as good w/o him. It has never been said he has a medical problem. I never notied it in anything else he appeared in.
