Actor David Caruso plays Horatio Caine in CSI: Miami.
He’s got a floppy head. We call him ‘the guy that always stands sideways with his head down’.
Is it just me or does anyone else have the urge to cram a rod through his head, down his neck and back to hold his head up?
Lady Jane thinks he ought to hold his head up too.

I just started watching CSI Miami faithfully in the last few months. I absolutely adore David Caruso. Instead of laughing at him for the head tilts and the standing sideways…maybe have a little understanding. I noticed the side standing and head tilt immediatley and did a search for him having a movement disorder… There was nothing public about this disorder linked to him, but I am positive that is what he has…because I have it. I named the disorder on this site, at first, but took it off for his privacy! Being a former Model…it kills your self esteem and you mask it (because your neck locks..notice even when they show him straight on that his head still has a tilt.) (It is also very hard to look someone straight in the eye for very long as your head and neck will lock and twitch) I hadn’t watched him in years..and I noticed it right away…because it’s exactly what I do to mask it. Stand sideways, looking down is involuntary and sometimes the only way you can unlock the muscles in your neck. So then you turn to the otherside..and then turn again. I also notice they turn the camera’s away from him alot or quickly after he says his one liners. Putting his glasses on may look cool…but it is also a way for him to stand straight momentarily, taking the focus off of his neck. Steadies his head with a little support movement ..such as putting on your glasses…They are working with him to mask these symptoms. He is the big star there and it wouldn’t be the same without him..so they’ll work with him. I am 100% positive this is what it is, even if he doesn’t know it yet. Which I am sure he does, but it is a very private condition. It is much more common then most of us realize..even myself when it happened to me. So I think we need to have compassion and understanding because right now there is probably a friend or family member that has it..or the onset hasn’t started yet. It’s a very humiliating and frustrating condition…so respect David Caruso rather than scoff at him. All I had to do was type in “why is David Caruso always tilting his head to the side?”..and this site came right up with all kinds of reference to it. Give the man some peace for God’s sake…I think he’s amazing!

I love the show but it would be ust as good w/o him. It has never been said he has a medical problem. I never notied it in anything else he appeared in.
