"The guy who threw the party was originally from North Carolina. He had made bar-b-que. North Carolina style. I bet you didn’t know that bar-b-que varies regionally."

Was it Eastern NC style or Western NC style?

BSC: WESTERN!!! I know the answer to that! I had to be told at the party, but I know the answer! lol

I've been fortunate to get to know the South by visiting my daughter at the bases she's been posted at there. I fell in love with it!! The food is all "comfort" food and the people are more than charming and so helpful.
Now I'm a Yankee, bred and born, but know you have a big "fan" of the South.
I find myself thinking of and craving Bar-be-que and hush puppies.
Would you have room for one more Northerner? Oh! Make that two - I suppose I should bring along the husband...

I can't say I've ever been to the south, but southerners should be very proud of thier musical heritage. Jazz, BLues, Gospel, Bluegrass...a lot of great stuff.

Always remember, barbecue is a noun, not a verb, and South is always capitalized. :)

Add some hush puppies, a little Brunswick Stew, and a good vinager based sauce, Eastern Carolina style!

Crap, now I'm hungry.

Living in Oklahoma is a lot like the South or was. Since 1995 and the OKC bombing we have been invaded with lefty's and yanks.
My husband asked several transplants why they moved here. They said they wanted the world they saw the day of the bombing when neighbors were helping neighbors. Now that they are here they are bringing the other side with them.
I miss the way it was.

I miss the south sooooo much! Being a transplanted Texan living in the midst of the "blue state" of Wisconsin, I can't wait to get back on the other side of the Mason-Dixon line. I'm sick of the constant Brat Fry. Why do they call it a "fry" when it's a boiled sausage that's grilled? No frying involved. I want sweet tea, decent BBQ, warm weather and the smell of honeysuckle and magnolias. One more year, max, and I'm outta here! :)

Dueling banjos, how nostalgic. Lincoln should have pushed the south out of the union when they wanted to go. All the trouble we've ever had has been out of the south. What a bunch of lunatics.

I think of family get togethers and lending a helping hand and neighbors knowing neighbors and genuinely caring about one another. I'm lucky enough to have that here in the North, but in the South, you find that is the norm, not the exception.
