Beccy Cole is an Aussie country singer who is also a patriot. Love her music. Love her country. Love the Diggers. Read about her and view some photos and her latest music video below.
Check out the video she did for Australian Diggers. Its titled Poster Girl.
video h/t It’s a Matter of Opinion
This kind of patriotism isn’t cool. You know, if you are cool you have a hard time deciding which side you are on. How can you know which is the right side? Right?
Sometimes choosing sides is the honorable thing to do. I can’t fathom people who would not chose to side with their own people, their own country. Apparently, Beccy Cole is clear about whose side she is on. I just wish we had an American version of Beccy Cole. Among other things she writes:
And I admire the burning fire that causes you to fight.
As for me, I know whose side I am on. Do you? On whose side were you when it mattered?
Tiara Tip to Seawitch who wrote:
Beccy Cole, an Australian who sings country music wrote it and sings it.
“Poster Girl” was written when Beccy returned from entertaining the troops in the Middle East over the Christmas and New Year period and found a letter from a fan who didn’t agree with Australia’s participation in the war. Beccy has previously commented. “I have a huge amount of respect for our forces and I’m very proud of the great job they are doing over there. Our job was to provide an entertaining break from their grueling routine and from all reports, we succeeded. I’m happy to report that morale is high amongst the Aussies and if their hard work and commitment is anything to go by, peace in the Middle East is achievable”
Blackfive likes it too. He also explains to those of us who aren’t Down Under what a Digger is

UPDATE: Beccy Cole ‘Poster Girl’ Tops the Country Music Radio Charts.
“When I returned from the Middle East earlier this year, I felt so proud of the Australian troops I had met. I was extremely inspired by these hard working and enthusiastic young Australians and I wanted to write a song that would pay tribute to them. I’m delighted that Poster Girl has reached the number one position, I hope I’ve been able to spread the pride.”

Via Blackfive comes this video from Australian singer Beccy Cole:
She wrote and starred in this video in response to some who are angry with her supporting the Australian troops (called Diggers) in Iraq. It’s an awesome video, the Anti-DixieChi…

Thanks For Singing…
Singers like Beccy Cole are rare and refreshing, quite unlike the Dixie Chicks who can’t seem to Shut Up and Sing or Roger Waters who feels the need to charge 150 bucks a ticket for his Bush Derangement Syndrome concert tour.

BECKY HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD!HAVE TO SAY THAT’S THE MOST AWSOME SONG I’VE HEARD IN A LONG TIME.HEY DIXIE CHICKS,WHY DON’T YOU LISTEN TO THIS SONG,YOU MIGHT JUST LEARN SOMETHING ABOUT SUPPORTING OUR HEROS FIGHTING FOR THE RIGHT FOR FREEDOM.THEY USED TO BE EVERYBODYS FAVORITES.NOW THEIR HATED WORLDWIDE FOR BEING SUCH SCUMBAGS TO OUR PRESIDENT.THAT’S WHY THEY CANCELLED MANY SHOWS.ANYWAY BECCY I LOVE YOUR SONG AND YOU FOR BRINGING TO MY ATTENTION JUST ONE MORE WAY HOW LUCKY WE ARE TO HAVE SUCH GREAT MEN & WOMEN HELPING TO TRY AND KEEP FREEDOM ON OUR SHORES AND TO THOSE POOR PEOPLE IN THE MIDDLE EAST.GOD BLESS YOU BECCY. It’s a great video and certainly a great song.
As for the comments re: the Dixie Chicks, maybe you people should give yourself a shake for being so ignorant. Their comments were against Bush and his government who got those “diggers” into the battle for their lives. At no time ever have they been anything but supportive of the troops on the frontline.
In addition, the Dixie Chicks are now more popular than before because they took a stand.
How come there are no comments about how it’s too bad the Hummers were shipped without armour plating and how it’s a shame the “diggers” are using flak jackets from the Vietnam conflict?
Supporting a president and his cabinet is not the same as supporting your troops. And finally, if there is no freedom of opinion and speech then just what are they fighting and dying for again?
November 16th, 2006 at 8:40 pm
Oh Steve! Nobody said the Dixie Chicks can’t run their mouths to their hearts content … and nobody said anybody has to buy their CDs or go to their concerts. Nothing but the best for them.
Freedom of Speech and using your celebrity forum for sedition ON FOREIGN SOIL are 2 different things. It used to be considered treason - nowadays, it should at least be considered poor form.
Lastly - my son is in Iraq - they have body armor. You shouldn’t drink all the kool -aide over at KOS. The military does re-use equipment. But our military has the best war toys in the world - but the enemy has some pretty fancy toys themselves.
This is a much too serious issue for people to keep trying to play politics with it.
BTW - why did you change the subject from Beccy Cole’s cd - it’s pretty good.

Great Video. Great Lyrics.
America can always count on the Brits and Aussies!
And to Steve - The Dixie Chicks are more popular than ever? That’s why they are canceling concerts … except in Canada! Unfortunaelty all they did on their “Shut up and Sing Tour” was blah blah blah blah blah

I served in the Canadian Army for 25 years and I can say that I have never heard a more inspiring song. Good on ya Beccy. As a grizzled old vet you’ve made my day.
