The future Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, is endorsing The Saboteur John Murtha for House Majority Leader.
As a Republic (not a democracy) we have the privilege to vote for and elect our representative government. Unlike some previous elections, the people who did not get the representatives they voted for are not screaming and carrying on about the election being ’stolen’ or that it was unfair somehow. Whaaaaa-waaa-waaa.
Instead, most of us understand that this is the way a Republic works. The majority of the people spoke - even in the races that had razor slim margins.
This is a perfect example of you get the government you deserve.
The problem is, do the troops deserve this? I don’t think so. But this is what we are stuck with for a while.
The dems have been gloating and grinning from ear to ear all the while backtracking on their demands for immediate withdrawal of troops. Now they are going to form a committee to form a committee to select a sub-committee to consider what committee should oversee a committee that will form a committee to start considering what might should be done in Iraq. That committee will look at all the options and submit it to a committee that will consider if it is ready for submiting to a committee that will evaluate it before sending it to the committee that will evaluate it before submitting it to the committee that will approve it before submitting it to the committee that will submit it to the House for approval before voting on whether or not to consider those options. Then once the options are figured all out, they will start the committee dance with culling the options down to the most viable. And on and on.
In the meantime, Ms. Pelosi is backing the man who called our troops ‘cold blooded killers’. The man who the democrats hail as their ‘war hero’, but who won’t allow his military records to be made public.
But it’s not about who’s best for the job. It’s about favors and personalities.
The unexpected move signaled the sizable value Pelosi gives to personal loyalty and personality preferences. Hoyer competed with her in 2001 for the post of House minority whip, while Murtha managed her winning campaign. Pelosi has also all but decided she will not name the ranking Democrat on the House intelligence committee, Rep. Jane Harman (D-Calif.) to chair that panel next year, a decision pregnant with personal animus. [source]
“I salute your courageous leadership that changed the national debate and helped make Iraq the central issue of this historic election. It was surely a dark day for the Bush Administration when you spoke truth to power,” she wrote. “Your strong voice for national security, the war on terror and Iraq provides genuine leadership for our party, and I count on you to lead on these vital issues.”
Murtha responded, “I am deeply gratified to receive the support of Speaker Pelosi, a tireless advocate for change and a true leader for our Party and our country.”
All Murtha had to do was call the troops ‘cold blooded murderers’ and call for immediate redeployment of the troops to Okinawa
You know what they say …. fasten your seatbelts ….
Here’s more ….
Leo Pusateri remembers how Murtha came to national prominence after a 32 year career in relative obscurity.
But all that changed on November 18, 2005, when Jack Murtha, tired of being a relative nobody on the national politcal scene, finally decided to make a big splash by throwing his former Marine brethren and the rest of the military under the bus as a means to his end. And let’s not forget the sweetheart deal that was arranged by Murtha to line the pockets of Pelosi’s nephew, Laurence, to cement the compact:
Murtha’s role in the culture of corruption also implicates Pelosi herself. Roll Call reported last year that Murtha “reportedly leaned on U.S. Navy officials to sign a contract to transfer the Hunters Point Shipyard to the city of San Francisco.” Pelosi’s nephew, Laurence Pelosi, was an executive of the company that owned the rights to the land.
And now wouldn’t you know it– Nancy Pelosi, the liberal’s liberal– (and soon to be House Speaker), is endorsing Jack Murtha over Steny Hoyer to be the next Majority Leader of the House of Representatives.
What better way to assuage fears about Democrats being too dovish and anti-military than to back America’s foremost spokesman for cut and run  who once famously pronounced Haditha a case of murder “in cold blood†while the investigation was still ongoing?
I think The Emperor Misha said it well.
You know, the “highly decorated†REMF mostly known for calling our Marines “coldblooded murderers†without a shred of evidence to support it at the time he made the accusation.
The insane, doddering, syphilitic old poster boy for euthanasia whose “solution†to the war is to “redeploy over the horizon to, well, Okinawa†who then, when given a vote on his own proposal, doesn’t even have the guts to vote for his own psychotic idea.
Whatever small chance the Iraqi people had that the United States wouldn’t abandon them to the tender mercies of al-Qaeda and the sectarian thugs who are wandering the country drilling holes in their victim’s heads is disappearing as fast as you can say the word “bi-partisanship:â€Â
After they start feeding America to the terrorists, and march onward to their goal of socialism and moral degradation, maybe the rest of our fellow Americans will finally get their heads out of the sand, or their arse, and realize what the party of Democrats has in mind for their future.
ABSCAM ABSCAM ABSCAM ABSCAM …….. well just a little reminder.

Hey,
Beautiful article! Well researched.
And you are absolutely correct in stating: “You get the government you deserve.”
Sadly that’s true.
Keep up the good work.

I find it humorous and ironic that the dems talk about “speaking truth to power.” They wouldn’t know the truth if it bit them in the butt. All they know is the party spin that they’ve been told. They’re a bunch of lemmings who can’t think for themselves.

If time lines of Vietnam are used instead of journalistic spin doctors, rational thinkers may come to a whole different conclusion about who the War Hawks, the party of disenfranchising voiceless voters and environmental destroyers are?
The same year JFK (democrat) was elected (1960) U. S. military advisors arrive in Vietnam, two years later, 1962 Agent Orange was introduced during his term (environmentalist?) and his running mate Johnson escalated it all after Kennedy’s assassination. It was November 1968 Mayor Richard Daley orders police to crackdown on antiwar protests. As the nation watched on television, the area around the Democratic convention erupts in violence.
Nixon (republican) who is stereo typed as the problem became the President in 1969, that was 9 years after Democratic control and direction in Viet Nam. Nixon signs 26th Amendment in 1971, giving disenfranchised 18 year olds the vote. Nixon visits the People’s Republic of China, this gesture is seen by the North Vietnamese as an effort to create discord between themselves and their Chinese allies. !972 Nixon cuts troops dramatically and his Secret Peace Talks Revealed? In 1973 Nixon’s Cease-fire, is signed in Paris. Draft is ended!
If Nixon was the problem because it took him 4 years to undo what two democrat presidents did before him? Never expect revisionist journalism to put the time frame together, because Nielsen Ratings do not like thinkers, they like loyal listeners of opinion. I cannot help but think Bush may very well be viewed as a visionary someday, because contrarian perception sells.

Amen Patty!!
Thanks Ed and thanks for coming by my blog
Carol - they talk about the ‘politics of corruption’. I mean GIVE THEM A MIRROR!!!
mudkitty - Be careful what you ask for, the sky might just fall slap on top of you. It fell on 2,996 of our fellow citizens a few years back - remember?

Gumboot - I have said that VERY thing. I think Nixon has gotten a bad rap all these years. He’s the one that ended Vietnam. The dems got us into it and expanded it. When push came to shove, Johnson refused to run or accept another term in office.
I still don’t like the WAY we left Vietnam - but the fact remains that he has taken the brunt of the blame for everything Vietnam when it was 2 dem presidents who are actually the architects of it.
People do not pay attention to history and that is to our detriment. The Bay of Pigs was on Kennedy’s watch as well. A situation in which a promise was made and broken after freedom fighters had begun a battle, leaving them to die and Castro in control of Cuba for years to come. Yet Kennedy has been anointed sainthood simply because he was popular, young and murdered.

Beth, the bay of pigs was a disaster, and leaving Cuban Americans on their own behind Castro’s line after they went in with a plan, was a typical democrat strategy. All-For the war until you are against it,,, sound familiar! The reason the left was for the war before they were against the war on terror is simple. Had this nation done nothing, both party’s knew just telling us not to profile was not going to stop militias from forming within our borders and acting against those who looked like the Terrorist. We had to act. Now that we are over that reaction phase, its time for the Dems to place all blame on Bush. Watch this you tube video because it is poignant and reminiscent of a Michael Moore video for the Right Wing. I like it, but its scary. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHHfiFEznJM&eurl

Thanks for the video Gumboot - as you see I posted it. It is very good - and very scary.
Ive been reading leftist blogs tonight and it is astounding how many view 9-11 as just a bad day. Ive read a mind boggling number of posts that compare the deaths on September 11th to the number of deaths in car accidents or criminal acts.
I guess its collateral damage. It makes me wonder what exactly are acceptable losses to these people. They are actually contemptuous of those of us who see an attack against American interests on American soil (the very symbols of our financial (WTC) and military (Pentagon) might as an act of war. It was just 19 people who committed a crime - thats all.
The further away we get from September 11, 2001, the more we hear from the weak and the cowardly.
