Thirteen Things I am Thankful For
1, My Beloved Curmudgeon. In spite of his curmudgeonly ways (seriously!), he is a good man who I know would do anything for me.
2. All of my wonderful children. My Soldier Son, my Dear Daughter, my step-children and their children and my new future German daughter-in-law.
3. My parents. My parents gave me good genes, discipline, a healthy dose of the work ethic and unconditional love. My father who died 20 years ago this week and my prescious mother.
4. A whole bunch of siblings, siblings-in-law and neices and nephews. who are each special in their own way. A large family has it’s ups and downs. But the advantages far outweight any disadvantages. I am grateful for each relationship.
5. I have been blessed with many friends.
6. Good jobs that allow us to live in comparative comfort.
7. My Soldier Son has remained safe in Iraq.
8. My Dear Daughter is finding her way in the world and has grown into a beautiful, intelligent and successful young woman.
9. My mother is cooking a huge meal tomorrow and I’ll probably make myself sick eating.
10. I have been fortunate to be able to participate in a small way in helping my community.
11. That I had the good fortune to be born in America.
12. That I had the good fortune to be born Southern.
13. That I live in interesting times.

Sounds like you have a lot of great things to be thankful for. I especially like the last one. I don’t often stop to be grateful for how interesting modern life is.

Thursday Thirteen: Thanksgiving Quotes…
#68
“Thank God every day when you get up that you have something to do that day which must be done whether you like it or not. Being forced to work and forced to do your best will breed in you temperance and self-control, diligence and strengt…

Yes, you could definitely call these interesting times. You sound like an optimist–and that’s a good thing I think.

Terrific list of things to be thankful for. Thank your son for his service - I’m glad to hear that he has remained safe. I know that when my husband has been deployed, I can’t help worry about him!
Although I celebrated Thanksgiving last month (Canadian Thanksgiving is in October), a Happy Thanksgiving to you.

You know. I really like your list, especially #7. I have a brother in the Airforce awaiting deployment. I know he’s ready to serve, but I can’t help but think I’m glad he’s alive and well state-side. Here’s hoping your boy continues to stay safe. Happy Thanksgiving!
