Speaking for myself as a Houstonian Muslim and someone who loves animal, I can say that I regret not being able to join in the fun. For some of my less enlightened fellow Americans, Muslims do not hate any animal, not even pigs. Muslims are simply required to not eat the flesh of swine just like the Jews and Christians (the original ones at least) were told in the Bible. Also since pigs roll in dirt and eat their own refuse, Muslims are required to wash their hands after touching a pig.
