PelosiNancy Pelosi originally had indicated she was going to name her long-time friend, corrupt democrat federal judge, Alcee Hastings. It is nothing short of astounding that she would even consider Hastings for this position considering that Ms. Pelosi has based so much of her recent critism of the Republican Congress on what she called a ‘culture of corruption’. Hastings was impeached and removed from office due to perjury, conspiracy to solicit bribes, lying under oath and forgery.

After she couldn’t seem to get around her friends corruption to appoint him to this highly important position she came up with a second choice.

Her second choice is Silvestre Reyes, a Texas Congressman who is openly critical of the Patriot Act, domestic wire tapping. During a recent interview, Reyes was unable to answer even very basic questions regarding terroists groups. Groups that have become household names since the attack of September 11, 2001.

Corruption Chronicles

Reyes, a former Border Patrol agent who sits on the Armed Services Committee, apparently was so embarrassed that he stumbled through most of the 40-minute interview and blamed his ignorance on the fact that it was conducted at 5 p.m. He reached an all-time desperate high when he asked if he could answer the questions in Spanish since he knew the reporter didn’t speak the language.

Just a little bit of the interview went like this:

And Hezbollah? I asked him. What are they?

“Hezbollah. Uh, Hezbollah…”

He laughed again, shifting in his seat.

“Why do you ask me these questions at five o’clock? Can I answer in Spanish? Do you speak Spanish?”

“Poquito,” I said—a little.

“Poquito?! “ He laughed again.

“Go ahead,” I said, talk to me about Sunnis and Shia in Spanish.

Reyes: “Well, I, uh….”

I apologized for putting him “on the spot a little.” But I reminded him that the people who have killed thousands of Americans on U.S. soil and in the Middle East have been front page news for a long time now.

It’s been 23 years since a Hezbollah suicide bomber killed over 200 U.S. military personnel in Beirut, mostly Marines.

Hezbollah, a creature of Iran, is close to taking over in Lebanon. Reports say they are helping train Iraqi Shiites to kill Sunnis in the spiralling civil war.

“Yeah,” Reyes said, rightly observing, “but . . . it’s not like the Hatfields and the McCoys. It’s a heck of a lot more complex.”

This seems unbelievable, doesn’t it? How can we expect to fight an enemy we are complete ignorant of? How can we expect to effectively execute a war when our Intelligence Committee doesn’t even know who we are fighting?

But when you look at how seriously Nancy Pelosi takes the Global War on Terror it’s not so unbelievable. They seem giddy with power in an almost child-like way. She and her followers seem to blow off the war altogether. They want to do away with airport security. They want to do away with the Patriot Act. They want to be more like Europe and less like America.

Nancy says it’s not a WAR to be fought, but a SITUATION that needs handling.

As they say, ‘War is Hell’. They also say ‘Ignorance is bliss.’
