I found out earlier today that this blog is a ‘wingnut outlet’. Apparently, some progressives have taken exception to what I and others have written about Barbara Boxer’s comments to Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice recently. It seems this was another one of those misunderstandings. Something like everyone misunderstanding John Kerry’s little non-joke about the Troops.
So the author of the little piece about how all the media outlets are misconstruing poor Ms. Boxer’s words crossposted the article at the Huffers. Interestingly, I got about 5 hits off both posts. As a friend of mine said, they aren’t interested in seeing what someone actually wrote, just what they are being told someone wrote.
All the same, I’m thinking I’ll make me a wingnut badge and put it in my sidebar. Maybe we could us the badge as an award for whoever gets linked as a wingnut from one of the progressive blogs.

It’s fascinating that the Darleens are more concerned for Rice’s hurt feelings over something they wish Boxer had said, rather than the actual human lives that are at stake.

In various comments she is called a ‘dumb bitch’, ‘idiot’, a ‘Nazi’, ‘Jesus-Freak’, ‘witch’, ‘Kompassionate Konservative Kristians’, ‘valueless’, ’stupid’, ‘a hard-core reich-wing broad’ and a member of the ‘KKK’. She is demeaned with faux-endearments such as ’sweetie’ and ‘dear’ and to top it all off, she’s told the hedges around her house need trimming.
Then someone called TexasLady replies to about 40 comments similar to the ones listed above with this …
Does any conservative ever use facts to justify their comments? I really would like to meet an honest conservative. What I see all around and read are mean spirited, selfish people who are scared witless. People who are hoping the schoolyard bully will save them.
And Savantster wraps up a 5 paragraph rant on the evils of Darleen (absolutely full of insults and name-calling) with this:
As an interesting side note, I’ve not met a reich-winger yet that can manage to have a reasonable discussion about -anything-. They try to lie and distract and distort -everything-.. almost like they have something broken in their brains.
As for me - they were a lot less hostile to me. I just got told I didn’t really have a ‘kid’ in the military. I responded to someone’s comment that she had a son who had a friend who might go into the military when he graduates because he is naive and misguided. For that I got this response from a guy called Judge of Judges:
I wish I had a nickel for every wingnut that says they have a kid in Iraq . . . . .
I’d be wealth we would have a Enormous army . . .
Texas Lady informed me that I needed to go to some VA hospitals so that I could really understand what this war is doing to our Soldiers and how our Soldiers really feel about the War.
Judge of Judges was right about one thing. I don’t have a ‘kid’ in Baghdad. I have a son in Baghdad and he is no longer a ‘kid’. He is a man. I imagine that he is much more a man than Judge of Judges can comprehend.
And I haven’t even read what they wrote over at Huffington Post about all of this yet.

BSC: Thank you Sniper …. it’s not bothering me - I actually think it’s kinda funny. The part that bothers me is their disrespect for our Troops. They SAY they support the Troops and then demean them and insist they are these untermenchen who otherwise would not be able to contribute to society. Now THAT eats at me.

The problem with the liberals that you quoted is that they are blind - and not very bright either. They have no clue that they are doing exactly the same things they accuse conservatives of doing - name-calling, intolerance, lying. It’s the party of tolerance and open-mindedness ONLY for people who follow the party line. Minorities are ONLY welcomed and “tolerated” when they toe the party line.
BSC: Yeah - that’s what got me. They were calling us (mostly Darleen) names while accusing us of calling names. They don’t even see it. They definitly don’t like minorities that don’t toe the party line. They can call them all sorts of names and get a pass on it. It’s nothing but intimidation - if you don’t go along with us you are an ‘uncle Tom’ or ‘house slave’. If a Republican had made the comments Babs Boxer made they’d be hung out to dry for it.

I watched Boxer on TV and she said what she said. It was anti-woman and anti-troops and anti-U.S. Doesn’t take a brilliant pundit to figure it out. If she is that difficult to understand, and has to have her words parsed like she was Kerry, why do they want her in government?
