Mr. Redford, please no more! Your movies, your comments about our
great country and its Leaders is reprehenisble! You owe the President,and
this country, and especially our brave soldiers an apology. Your latest movie Lions for Lambs is a “Disgrace” and also a “Lie”. I would discouarge
anyone wanting to see this movie. I’m ashame that you call yourself an
American! Like one other person that e-mailed you. If it were not for
President Bush you would be running Sundance from Bagdad.

Maybe you would perfer that anyhow!

I think we have common ground on some of our views.I agree that most of the politicans are fools and the highest politician in america is arguably the biggest.It was the people behind the scenes and president bush that started this war and these are the the fools of which you speak, so redford might have a point.do you think the only way to get people with different beliefs to comform to yours is to destroy them? Thats what hitler did. Churchill in my opinion would not in this case followed bush into war. You must remember these people are your brothers even if they dont.We are all human.
There will alaways be disagreements between nations, for dissagreement is merely a sign-and a healthy one of indivuality.
Violent resolution of disagreements, however, is a sign of extraordinary immaturity.
There is no reason in the world why violent resolution cannot be avoided, given the willingness of nations to avoid it.
One would think the massive toll in death and destroyed lives would be enough to produce such willingness, but among the cultures such as ours that is not so.
As long as you think you can win an argument you will have it.As long as you think you can win a war, you will fight it.
I guess in my humble opnion the answer rests in an ideal, and until this ideal is met we will go arond in circles till our beautiful wourld is destroyed.

It is an an observable truth that power in our world can no longer rest disproportionately with any individual nation, but must rest in the hands of the total group of nations existing on this planet.Only in this way can the wourld fianally be at peace, resting in the secure knowledge that no despot-no matter how big or powerful his individual nation-can or will ever again infringe apon the territories of another nation, nor threaten her freedoms.
No longer need the smallest nations depend apon the goodwill of the largest nations, often having to bargin away there own resorces and offer there prime lands for foriegn military bases in order to earn it. Under this new system, the security of the smallest nations will be garanteed not by whose back they scrach, but by who is backing them.
Anyway you speak of the people of america being the backbone of america and that i agree, pray tell why does the majority of americas backbone vote for bush? and selflessley render them powerless?. It is the naturall inner values of the people of both countries that has been subdued.Robert redford is an actor and not a politician, so what. So is arnold Schwarzenegger and look where he is. I belive that redford has a great deal more wisdom than arnold, and also a better actor.Try not to think of america but to think of the wourld as a unit and your perspective might change.

You seemed concerned enough about what he said to air your views. Unfortunatly England is not what it used to be and nor is America. Did you not realise that the war in Iraq is about OIL? It also depends on how you define a wimp or a traitor. To say what he said if the face of so much opposition probally took alot of balls.

BSC: Oh please, Steve. He’s an ACTOR. He pretends to be things on TV and in movies. He’s wealthy and has ‘people’ to do everything for him. What kind of guts does it take to speak sedition to like minded people?

I air my views because WE - the people of ‘fly-over country’ are otherwise not heard. The only views aired on TV, the news or in movies is primarily this guys type of views. Otherwise, it’s shut out.

You are right though, England is not what she once was. It’s very sad. What happened to the great nation that defied a Germany that had occupied the rest of Europe and endured the blitz? Fwanch has not been able to defeat England since 1660 and yet in the 21st Century England just rolls over and starts talking with a lisp.

We have our problems in America, you are right. But when push comes the shove - the PEOPLE here will not stand for defeat. Our politicians are a bunch of fools, so are the effete elite and the hollywood narcissists. But the backbone of the country is still strong. The center holds.

BSC: Really Steve? Why? Why should I be concerned about Robert Redford’s motivations or thought processes? Perhaps he should ask us why Americans don’t like people like him talking like he does. Perhaps Redford should as us WHY.

You say you are from England. If you have grown up and lived in England, have you ever heard of Winston Churchill? Dunkirt? The Blitz? Juno & Sword Beaches? The RAF? The Spitfires? The Luftwaffe?

Most of us, Americans, haven’t forgotten our history. We don’t like wimps and traitors over here.

It is disconcerting that Mr. Redford abused his fame to make a political statement during his Sundance Festival. In addition, I can’t believe he allowed films like “Zoo” in his festival. He and his independent film festival have hit an all time low.

Mr. Redford’s political commentaries border treason. He should move out of the USA, if he is so unhappy. The problem is he has it too good. He is living the American dream and unfortunately, and very, sadly so, he doesn’t even know it. Here’s hoping he wakes up…snd soon.

BSC: He apparently doesn’t mind getting wealthy off the capitalist American system. He just wants to redistribute everyone else’s wealth. Unfortunately, that seems to be the case of most of the obscenely wealthy liberal elite.

How dare Mr. Redford ask for an apology from President Bush, who has kept this country from being attacked for the past 5 years. If terrorism is not contained, then next year’s Sundance Festival could be in Baghdad.

My second comment deals with the subject matter of 2 of this years films. A film on beastiality, and another film showing the rape of a child. Who in their right mind makes these types of films and why does Mr. Redford feel these are the types of films that need to be made and seen. What a shameful display of so called entertainment.

I just found this website while looking for a “personal” website for Mr. Redford. I wanted to write to him, personally, to tell him how “reprehensible” I think his remarks are…as well as the films that he’s saying we NEED to see, to keep those things in check. Doesn’t that man realize that all the pedephiles will come out of the woodwork to buy those two films? And they’re salivating until they hit the market? He uses the “smokescreen,” of us having to be “educated” on such matters; hey, listen….I don’t WANT to know the gorey details. I don’t need to be “shown” that a man’s rectum can be ripped open by a horse! It’s pretty much commons sense to me. You sleep with a horse….you’re gonna get ripped open! These liberals who hide behind the first amendment are ruining this country. When something good happens on television, or in the movies they’re the first ones to say, “it warms your heart…and gives you inspiration to do something about the issue…” But if it’s something bad that happens…they say it doesn’t affect a person. These people have lost ALL common sense. Thank you for the space to let off some of my steam….now, gotta go look for that “personal” website for Redford. I want to tell him this to his “face/computer!!!”
