The Insurgents in Iraq
I was watching the news a while ago and during an entire segment on the Battle of Iraq a banner was on the screen reading, ‘Civil War’. It was such a large banner that it took up a fourth of the screen.
The message is clear. The talking head kept referring to the ‘civil war’ in Iraq. He kept referring to ‘insurgents’ who were blowing up markets and killing people in the ‘civil war’ there.
I couldn’t help but think that the average American listening to this would get the message that we are just hanging around over there in the middle of a ‘civil war’. Most people don’t pay as close attention as those of us with children there. Most people read the headlines or listen to the talking points and then go to the country club. If you listen to the news like that, you would think there are warring factions in Iraq who are fighting each other over who is going to be in control of the country.
What I never hear on the news is who exactly the ‘insurgents’ are. Who is it that are planting IEDs to kill Americans? Who are hiding in buildings or behind barriers to shoot at Americans as they drive by? The Shiites and Sunnis of Iraq are basically bombing each other. The Americans just have to stay out of their way.
But there are highly organized, well armed, very smart and fanatical groups who are aiming directly at American Troops.
We are told by the media and the left that if we just leave Iraq everything will go back to how it was before 9/11. If we walk away from this fight we can forget all about the war that was declared on us, the war that has been waged on us for decades, the war that we weren’t aware of until 9/11.
We are told that if the Iraqis wanted independence they would have already been able to form, arm and train an army capable of defeating armies from all over the world. Frankly, I think it shows an enormous amount of courage on the part of many of the Iraqis to continue to go out and try to patrol and fight off the ‘insurgents’ with the specter hanging over them that the Americans might pull our support at any time.
The media and left portray Americans and Israel as the bad guys. It’s America that is making the rest of the world hate us. It’s the American Soldier that is cruel, destructive and demeaning to the ‘insurgents’ who are just trying to fight for their own homes. The media and the left would have us believe that American Troops are committing war crimes against the prisoners at Gitmo.
Stop and think. Who are these innocent ‘insurgents’ that are so badly misunderstood and mistreated by the horrible Americans? Who is creating the destruction and perpetrating the horrific inhumane acts throughout the Middle East, actually, throughout the world?
Our Troops aren’t fighting Iraqis in Iraq. Our Troops are fighting Iranians, Syrians and al-Qaida in Iraq. We knew when we went into Iraq that jihadists from around the world would come there to fight us. They would have come to where ever we were. They are determined to destroy us.
We are supposed to feel sorry for these people who put IEDs in the roads so that whoever drives over them will be killed. We are supposed to think that our dominate military will over run them and force our wills on them. To make it fair and to not appear to be too aggressive, we are supposed to make our Soldiers fight with their hands tied behind their backs.
When have we, as Americans, EVER done that? We defeated Japan. Did we then occupy Japan? We defeated Germany. Did we occupy Germany? We spent American blood to win pacific islands that we turned around and gave back to the people native to those islands. We are not imperialists. We never have been. We don’t need to be. Our lives are good. We are prosperous. We have what we need.
Jihadists kidnap and decapitate journalists and America is accused of cruelty when the jihadist is killed by allied Troops. imams and leaders of Arab nations speak long and loud about their intention to kill us and destroy Western culture. We don’t hear them. We ignore them and go on our way as though they don’t exist and haven’t told us their intentions. Just like Bin Laden was ignored before 9/11.
The insurgents are not poor farmers trying to defend their home and property. The insurgents are highly trained, well armed, well organized militias who will do whatever it takes to kill Americans, Israelis and any other Westerners.
The insurgents are jihadists with the goal of destroying us.
If you think you are safer pretending the insurgents in Iraq are Iraqis in a civil war, you are wrong.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Taylor Marsh at Huffington Post calls says the ‘insurgency’ is a civil war and anyone who thinks otherwise is unpatriotic and does not support the Troops.
Many on the left refuse to believe that Iran is behind the insurgency in Iraq. They are more interested in their political agendas than in the security of our nation and the safety of our Troops.
They accuse people who are not members of ‘The Party’ of what they are guilty of, putting ‘The Party’ above the best interest of the country.
