Welsh Dairy Farmers are Looking for Love
A group of single Welsh dairy farmers have come up with a unique way of finding spouses. They are part of Welsh dairy farming co-op Calon Wen. Apparently, a single farmer in Wales doesn’t have a lot of prospects for a mate. Most of the single people in the area have left for the cities. So this group has decided to put stickers on their milk bottles in hopes Mr. or Ms. Right will come their way.
“It started as a bit of lark,” said Ian Jones, 30, who came up with the idea and launched it on St. Dwynwen’s Day, which in Wales is similar to Valentine’s Day.
They have gotten thousands of responses, mostly from the United States (no surprise there).
“The Welsh countryside is a great place to live, with stunning scenery, but it can be a hard place to find a date, as I’m finding out,” he said.
“Calon Wen was founded to support family farmers but a quarter of our members are single, which was becoming a bit of a joke.
He said: “It’s just a bit of a laugh really but if an attractive young lady contacts me I certainly won’t turn her away.”
What a nice story. I really hope it works out for them. Meanwhile, I’m forwarding this to my daughter! HEH! Why not?

Iwan Jones (not Ian!) is my cousin. I saw him on Saturday and he was telling me all about the attention they’ve been getting.
BSC: Thanks for the correction. That spelling is in a quote from the article, but I’ll note it in the post. I enjoyed your blog. I should say, I enjoyed trying to figure out the language. Do you write it in Welsh?
