Soldiers in Iraq

WASHINGTON (American Forces Press Service, Feb. 14, 2007) - An influx of Iranian weapons and munitions into Iraq amounts to a “major force-protection issue,” a senior coalition official in Iraq said today.

Maj. Gen. William Caldwell, Multi-National Force-Iraq spokesman, told a group of online journalists that Iranian interference in Iraq, particularly the export of deadly “explosively formed penetrator” (EFP) components and technology, must be made public after diplomatic and military efforts to deter the practice had been unsuccessful.

“We’re going to go public, talk about this and acknowledge it,” Caldwell said. “We need these actions to stop.” [source]

Explosively Formed Penetrators (EFP) are a more deadly form of IED. We are seeing more sophisticated and deadlier weapons being used against our Troops. It doesn’t take but a little bit of common sense to figure out where these weapons are coming from.

Apparently, some politicians choose to believe that the Iraqis are in a civil war and somehow producing these weapons themselves. While the progressives are trying to cram that theory down our throats, our Soldiers are having to deal with a very smart, agile and well armed force who thinks they can just bleed us and out last us.

President Bush isn’t trying to sell the American public on going to war with Iran. Iran has already gone to war with us.

In addition to watching for snipers, the Soldiers must also be on the lookout for the lethal Iranian exported explosively formed penetrator devices.
