Many Democrats have made a political wager that we will lose this war. It was the basis of their campaigns, the topic of their rhetoric, and the impetus for this (and other) unfortunate legislation. It’s unfortunate that they put themselves in a position where their reputation is dependent on us losing war, where every bit of bad news helps them….it puts them in a position to root against us.

It seems outlandish to say that the Democrats are rooting for us to lose, but have you heard any congressional democrat say “I hope we win”? I haven’t.

Exactly. I would even go further. They are the children of the anti-war hippies of the Vietnam era. They have been brought up to distrust their country. Even hate it. The don’t see the American Republic as morally superior (yes, you can can view your own nation as superior without inflicting harm on other nations), they believe in moral equivalence, and view our nation as no different than China, the Soviet Union, Saudi Arabia, Cuba….

And you can’t argue with them. If you say 3000 dead, in historical context and out of a nation of 300,000,000 people isn’t destroying our nation, you are called a cold heartless bastard.

The question is, if the left is willing to sacrifice 3000 people to defend this nation, what are they willing to sacrifice in its defense? And of course, if you go back to my first point, they they depise their own nation, you have your answer.

Hey Beth,
Glad that you took the time to address this as well. The Congress needs to go back and read the history books about how well the pullout of Vietnam went for us. We are still suffering the ill effects of that political decision. We have a generation of heroes who hid their service and only until recently are they speaking out and showing pride in their service.

Charlie Daniels was so precise in his analysis - this nation has not follwed through on a military operation since 1945. What kind of message is that sending to the enemy?

McCain has the audacity to compare the surge to Tet, he needs to do his homework, after Tet ‘68 Hanoi was just waiting for us to declare victory. I would love to have this surge fall out in just the same manner! Not just for our troops but to thumb at McCain as well!
