A weekly meme for giving thanks and/or
for noting important events in our lives.
- I am grateful that my son had a good R&R the past two weeks. I didn’t get to see him, but I got to talk with him several times. He spent his R&R in Germany.
- My son got engaged while he was on R&R to a girl he dated for about a year before he was deployed. She seems like a nice girl and they certainly seem to be in love with each other. They have a lot in common and it appears they will be good friends and companions for each other. I’m very happy for them.
- I am grateful that my daughter seems to be doing well in California even though she only calls me when she’s upset about something.
- I’m grateful that my fabulous mother had a wonderful birthday. She seemed to thoroughly enjoy it and looks a year younger rather than a year older!
- Speaking of my fabulous mother, I’m grateful that she only imagines that her memory is going bad. She says she can’t remember things - but she remembers better than any of her children do.
- I have neglected the care of my car. My husband has always taken care of my car and he hasn’t this one for some reason. So since it’s been left up to me, I’ve fallen down on the job. I did take it in for maintenance this week and even though I had to endure a lecture from the mechanic, I’m grateful that I got it in for maintenance before I completely ruined it.
- The sad saga of Anna Nicole Smith and the man who was dead for a year, sitting in a chair and no one ever missed him reminded me of how grateful I am to have a large, loving, close family.

Great Sunday Seven - and I’m thankful to be a part of your large family!
I still haven’t been able to comment on any blogspot blogs.
But I’ll keep trying.
Beth, that’s a great list. I am so happy for your son. That is great news.
I agreewith you about your mom’s memory. She recalls SO many things, it is amazing.
Your last comment echoes what I said in my list. It would be so sad to not have anyone who cared for your soul!
Have a great (although wet) Sunday.
Congratulations on your son’s engagement! There are a lot of quite lovely and nice girls in Germany (even if they have more tattoos and piercings than when I was a young G.I. stationed there).
I’m assuming she’s German, although there are people from all over the world there, especially in the bigger cities.
Once upon a time I worked the section that handles immigrant visas for foreign citizen military spouses in Germany, I hope all goes very smoothly there when the time comes.
How WONDERFUL for your son! Congratulations to him and his bride-to-be! You must all be so excited!
Have a great day - and a fabulous week!
I agree about the story of the man…it was really sad.
Congratulations to your son..I’m sure it’s hard having him so far away.
Have a GREAT day…my first SS is up.
Susan
Good Sunday Seven! I thoroughly enjoyed your humor piece above too! I have decided that I have to learn to LIKE being hungry!
Congratulations on your son’s engagement. Isn’t young love wonderful? Wishing them many many years of happiness, and that follow in your footsteps (I loved your post above Sunday 7. I can so identify with you. Sometimes, they just don’t get it, but we love ‘em anyway.).
oops! and I forget to say that my Sunday Seven is up as well.

Sounds like a banner week for your family. Congrats on the engagement and birthday of your wonderful mother. God is good, all the time! I laughed about your car….”Usually the gas fairies put gas in my car so I seldom even look at the gauge till “he” forgot one week and I was literally on faith and fumes. Glad your car is not permanetly injured!
