Alec BaldwinA sad spectacle was put on full displayed for the world to see - rather hear - this week involving a maniacal tirade narcissistic actor Alec Baldwin left on an answering machine for his 11-year-old daughter.

The festering bad blood between the movie-star exes Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger erupted when an angry phone message from Baldwin to his daughter was made public. On the recording, Baldwin can be heard berating his 11-year-old, Ireland, “You are a rude, thoughtless little pig.” “You don’t have the brains or the decency as a human being,” he says, apparently upset that she did not answer her phone for a planned call. “I don’t give a damn that you’re 12 years old, or 11 years old, or that you’re a child, or that your mother is a thoughtless pain in the ass who doesn’t care about what you do as far as I’m concerned. You have humiliated me for the last time with this phone.” The recording was published by the celebrity news site TMZ.com, which said that the call was placed on April 11. Baldwin’s spokesman said in a statement that, “in the best interest of the child,” the 49-year-old actor “will do what the mother is pathologically incapable of doing,” which he said was “keeping his mouth shut and obeying the court order.” (AP)

I realize there is more to this story than one recording. I realize that this child is being raised by two hollywood stars who are undoubtedly both narcissists. I don’t know much about Kim Bassinger, but Alec Baldwin has chosen to put himself front and center in the news as often as possible and most of his rantings are pretty ‘out there’ and often abusive. Certainly the epitome of self-centered.

What is obvious is that this child is being used as a weapon between the two parents. Think about what happened to the house that the Roses fought over in the movie ‘The War of the Roses’. Then think of how that same kind of battle affects a child when the child is the weapon used in the battles. It’s not a pretty picture.

Their fight with each other is more important to them than the well-being of their child.

Now, the poor girl has her humiliation at her father’s hand spread all over the news - and blogs - for the world to hear or read.

Regardless of what this child did or didn’t do, regardless of how angry her father was, regardless of how enraged he is with Kim Bassinger, regardless of what Kim Bassinger has done or has not done, there is not an excuse for saying these kinds of things to a child. Certainly not your own daughter.

These are not things you say to your child.

“You are a rude, thoughtless little pig.”
“You don’t have the brains or the decency as a human being,”
“I don’t give a damn that you’re 12 years old, or 11 years old, or that you’re a child, or that your mother is a thoughtless pain in the ass who doesn’t care about what you do as far as I’m concerned. You have humiliated me for the last time with this phone.”

It’s nothing but abuse. A B U S E.
