Do you think it’s possible to win the Iraq War?
Here’s what I think: this is a real war, extended beyond the borders of Iraq.
As in the more general war on terror?
The war on terror is real. People would have you believe it’s not real. This is not Vietnam. This particular situation is not the same wherein we can walk away and just leave destruction behind us. No, we can’t. Anyone who has paid attention to what [Iranian President] Ahmadinejad is saying, what all the mullahs are saying in this country and in England, and in all of the Arab world, this is serious, they’re calling for the destruction of America and all democracy and thats what’s going on. We could lose this war.
It’s so unusual for a hollywood personality to speak out in support of America that it’s noteworthy. Jon Voight makes a lot of sense in this interview. He is a man who starred in anti-war films as a young man. He seems to have gotten wiser as he’s gotten older, which happens to many of us. The idealism of our youths get replaced by a more realistic understanding of the world we live in.
Jon Voight is no Hollyweirdo! He’s a great American, and I can’t wait to see his movie where he portrays Pope John Paul II! He’s like Clint Eastwood and Pat Boone. This O’Reilly interview was powerful and moving. I admire Jon Voight in the same fashion as John Wayne and James Stewart.
WOW, I am surprised to hear ANY one like him speak in those terms. He’s right. I just wish more people understand the gravity of the situation in which we are involved. The Muslim agenda is clear: THEY WANT US DEAD! We can’t quit.

I also saw Jon Voight tonight on Scarborough Country. On that show, Voight ironically sounded so much like Jack Chismore, the out of control, deranged alcoholic that he portrayed so well in “Desert Bloomâ€Â. Chismore would ramble on about worldwide conspiracies and how evil people were out to get our country, blah blah blah blah…
Tonight, Voight was rambling on like someone who really did stop taking his medication. He was scary. He seemed very high or very crazy. Maybe a bit of both?
What he said was bad enough. But how he acted when he said it was also very, very strange. I was actually embarrased for him. If I were his kid, I’d be shaking my head and looking downward.
now he has gone full circle to the extreme right. it certainly seems that many countries want “us” dead, but they are not only countries in the mideast or africa; we have vested interests, both economically and politically, in this part of the world, but we handle it so poorly it is no wonder we have such a bad reputation; the usa motto since bush has been in office is “a means to an end!” if we could conduct ourselves in a non-covert way, we might just get some respect, cooperation and concessions. i know many people from these countries (iraq,iran,egypt,israel,south africa,europe,etc.) for the most part the love americans, but their trust of our government has been seriously eroded.

A world-class phony. This guy was anti-Vietnam War in the early 1970s, when that was chic. He appeared in “Hanoi Jane” Fonda’s anti-Vietnam War film COMING HOME, and won an Oscar for it. At the time, he was still an anti-war person. Now, when his star has long-faded, he runs up the patgriotic, pro-war flag? If he were anti-war, no one would put him on a talk show program, as how would it be unique? But sine he is one of the few pro-war reactionaries in Hollywood, he gets to generate publicity. He is a scab. When is not trying to piggyback on his daughter Angelina Jolie, he is trying this. A phony.
P.S. How is being for an imperialistic war that benefits only the military industrial complex and the oil industry being PRO-AMERICA? Is America the arms industry and the oil industry? You’re a fool.
