The argument regarding funding for the war on Capital Hill is frustrating for those of us with children serving in the bowels of Baghdad. We have Congressmen ranting and raving and carrying on about the ‘illegal’ war and about forcing troop withdrawal by cutting funds.

I believe this is exactly what the same people did to our Vietnam Veterans. They are the same people doing the same thing. They declare that the war is like the Vietnam War but I suggest that it’s not the war that is the same but the baby-boom generation reaction to it that is the same.

Nancy Pelosi declares that it’s sad that President Bush thinks that al-Qaeda is in Iraq. Even while she makes these sneering statements our Soldiers, our sons and our daughters, are fighting al-Qaeda in Iraq. High level Iranian operatives have been captured in Iraq and the Congressmen and news media either ignore it or spend their time discussing whether or not our Troops, our sons and our daughters, will mistreat them while they are being held for questioning.

The Troops, our sons and our daughters, are having their time down range extended. In many cases indefinitely. They are having to do repeated rotations. It’s a volunteer Army, that’s their job. But doesn’t it just grate on you to hear the criticism of every move they make? Doesn’t it just make your head explode to know that news media and progressives are just waiting for one to slip up, in the fog of war, and make a mistake so they can slander the American Military for the world to hear? Don’t you want to scream at those Congressmen and tell them to quit using our sons and our daughters for their own political gain?

Our Soldiers are conducting themselves with the utmost professionalism. They are working under rules of engagement that would be comical if they weren’t so deadly. Not deadly to the enemy, but deadly for our Soldiers. For our sons and daughters.

During my daily routine, I look around and see military age people going about their lives. There is no war in their lives. They are going to school, working, climbing the corporate ladder, marrying, having children and planning vacations to exotic places.

Our Soldiers are in an exotic place alright, but it’s no vacation. Their lives are not just on hold, but are hanging in the balance. Their marriages, children, jobs, school are all on hold. Waiting. They will return to their lives when their rotations, which are being extended, are over. Then they’ll go back again. They are seeing sights that will remain with them the rest of their lives. None of them will come back the same.

There is a disconnect between the people in this country and our Soldiers fighting this war. We have little to no real help from other countries. Our Soldiers are in the dangerous areas. Our Soldiers are carrying the heaviest part of the load for the Western world.

Our country forgot about 9/11. Everyone has moved on. Everyone except our enemy who still declares their intention to destroy us, and the American Soldier who stands alone between them and us.

Cat at CatHouse Chat thinks our wonderful country is turning into *spit* fwance *spit*.

The blood of our armed forces, the blood of Iraqi citizens, and the blood of our murdered citizens is on their hands.

And may God have mercy on their souls, for they will surely answer to Him for their actions.
