Tonight is Bon Jovi night. I really thought that some of the contestants would have trouble singing male rock songs. All of them did very well with difficult songs.
I have to say that Phil Stacey and Lakisha Jones hit it out of the park tonight. I expected Lakisha to have problems with the music, but she slap laid it down, albeit in a gospel-ly kind of way.
Blake Lewis, one of my favorites, bee-bopped it out of the neighborhood. Unique and fun. I think he’s a real entertainer and will have a career regardless of the outcome of American Idol. I would give odds that he will win this year.
Chris Richardson was praised by the judges. Except Simon who I often finding myself agreeing with even though most people think he’s too tactless. I agreed with him on Chris tonight - not a great performance. But I haven’t gotten why Chris is still on the show anyway. It’s just a matter of taste, I guess.
Melinda Doolittle did a good job. The judges praised her as sounding like a young Tina Turner. I didn’t think she was as good as they said. It bothers me a tad that she’s a professional singer competing in a singing contest. I realize she’s a back-up singer - but it doesn’t seem fair to the other contestants. But that’s just me.
Jordin Sparks (my personal favorite) is getting +315 odds at online gambling sites. She didn’t do so well tonight, but I didn’t think she did nearly as badly as the judges made it sound. She picked a very difficult song. I just like her style and candor.
My prediction is that Chris Richardson and Jordin Sparks will be gone after tonight. I really hate to see Jordin voted off. I think she’s got the whole package.
Signing off my embarrassing addiction to American Idol for another week. Actually, probably not - we’ll see who makes it through this round.

Well, we think alike. That was my prediction, too. I like Jordin a lot, and she is sooooo good for only being 17….but I fear she doesn’t have the following that some of the others have.
I’m personally sick to DEATH of Melinda…every week I hope she messes up, lol. She’s good, I’m just bored with her.
BSC: I KNOW! I’m sick of Melinda too! What is it? I can’t figure it out - she’s just not exciting. She’s a good - excellent singer. She just doesn’t have ‘it’. Whatever that is! lol

You like BLAKE?!!! YIKES! Fish-mouth Blake? I had forgotten two people were going to be off the show tomorrow night. I TiVoed he show and zapped through everything except the singing and judges; comments. I HOPE it’ll be Chris and Phil who go home tomorrow night.
BSC: YEAH!! I know. He does have a fish mouth. But he’s entertaining sometimes with his bee bop stuff. What can I say. I would pick Phil and Chris to go home too. I just am worried that it’s going to be Jordin.

Well if last night show was based a performers originality and lack of ability to actually sing more than 1/4 of song; the honor indeed goes to Blake. While everyone is busting his/her balls to sing an entire Bon Jovi song, Blake manages to get rave reviews for not really singing much. Cool arrangement, but not appropiate or fair at this stage of the game.
PS I’m a huge Chris R fan. I can’t stand the flack this guy gets eg. nasally, JT wannabe, he’s no Chris Daughtry. He’s a very talented man; to bad he can’t be appreciated as who he is.

The show isn’t about singing, it’s about entertaining. Blake was the most entertaining… So what if he didn’t “sing a huge vocal ballard thing with runs all over the place”. The vast majority of good music is the unique stuff, not the huge ballad folks with booming voices and big runs.
