Tonight is Bon Jovi night. I really thought that some of the contestants would have trouble singing male rock songs. All of them did very well with difficult songs.

I have to say that Phil Stacey and Lakisha Jones hit it out of the park tonight. I expected Lakisha to have problems with the music, but she slap laid it down, albeit in a gospel-ly kind of way.

Blake LewisBlake Lewis, one of my favorites, bee-bopped it out of the neighborhood. Unique and fun. I think he’s a real entertainer and will have a career regardless of the outcome of American Idol. I would give odds that he will win this year.

Chris Richardson was praised by the judges. Except Simon who I often finding myself agreeing with even though most people think he’s too tactless. I agreed with him on Chris tonight - not a great performance. But I haven’t gotten why Chris is still on the show anyway. It’s just a matter of taste, I guess.

Melinda Doolittle did a good job. The judges praised her as sounding like a young Tina Turner. I didn’t think she was as good as they said. It bothers me a tad that she’s a professional singer competing in a singing contest. I realize she’s a back-up singer - but it doesn’t seem fair to the other contestants. But that’s just me.

Jordin SparksJordin Sparks (my personal favorite) is getting +315 odds at online gambling sites. She didn’t do so well tonight, but I didn’t think she did nearly as badly as the judges made it sound. She picked a very difficult song. I just like her style and candor.

My prediction is that Chris Richardson and Jordin Sparks will be gone after tonight. I really hate to see Jordin voted off. I think she’s got the whole package.

Signing off my embarrassing addiction to American Idol for another week. Actually, probably not - we’ll see who makes it through this round.
