There was a time when Americans didn’t accept surrender, defeat, and didn’t run from struggles for freedom. During that time, our flag wasn’t pulled down and removed. It stayed through the fight, and continued to wave over a land of free people … brave people.
Have a great Memorial Day weekend.

What a scene! Sends chills down my spine.
On a completely different note, I’m TAGGING you for the “Re-Awaken Lonely Old Posts” blog tag… http://thomistic.blogspot.com/2007/05/memorial-day-and-ive-been-tagged.html
It’s an opportunity to re-cycle a post of yours that you liked, but maybe hasn’t seen much action in the archives!
Have a good weekend with your friends and family!

O thus be it ever when freemen shall stand
Between their loved homes and the war’s desolation;
Blest with victory and peace, may the heaven rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us as a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: “IN GOD IS OUR TRUST.”
And the Star-Spangled Banner in triumph shall wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
- War of 1812, Francis Scott Key, Sept. 14, 1814 (4th verse)

Great post and video…
Who was the vocalist in this? It’s nice that she didn’t try to put fourteen or so notes into each syllable.
Great quote from Francis Scott Key!
BSC: Faith Hill! I should have put that on the post - I have it there now. Thanks for reminding me
