I believe that Hillary Clinton will be the next president of the United States. There is no question that she will be the candidate of choice for the democratic party. She has no real opposition and whatever you think of the Clinton’s you have to admit they know how to get their way.
I can hear all the pshaws out there from anyone reading this. If you are reading this you might think that that there is no way the American public would elect Hillary Clinton as President of the United States. We’ve had all the Clintons and Bushs any of us want. Right?
Wrong!
The very word ‘republican’ has become synonymous with a cuss word. People are ridiculed as being close minded racists if they are Republican.
Worse, the Republican party is shattered and divided. If Rudy Giuliani gets the nomination, there are people who won’t vote for him because he has voiced the belief that government should stay out of moral decisions (ie: abortion). There are people who won’t vote for John McCain because of the position has taken on illegal immigration. There are people who won’t vote for Mitt Romney because he’s a Mormon. And the skeletons haven’t been pulled out of Fred Thompson’s closet yet.
The point is, the Republican party is not united in the way the democrat party is. Republicans represent conservatives who have a wide range of differing opinions and agendas. The democrats represent progressives. If you are a democrat you are loyal to the party regardless of who the candidate is. If you are a Republican, you vote for the person regardless of the party the person belongs to.
So there’s the problem. With a divided Republican party in 1992 Bill Clinton won the presidency with 43% of the popular vote. He won the presidency in 1996 with 49% of the popular vote, again with the Republican vote divided.
I’m a big picture kind of person. I believe the war on terror will not go away and all the other issues we get side tracked with, will not amount to a hill of beans if we continue to ignore that our military is not being allowed to fight this war. While conservatives are focusing on their differences of opinion the democrats will take the country.

What a VERY frightening thought. She has socialist leanings and wants to take from the rich and give to the poor. To her, capitalism is a sin. God help us if she becomes president! `:-O
You hit the nail on the head. Democrats vote for democrats. It doesn’t matter what the policies and beliefs are of whoever gets the Democratic nomination. The sheep will follow blindly. Republicans, for the most part, are more open-minded and will vote for the person they feel will best lead the country - regardless of party affiliation. So, I’m afraid, you are likely correct in your assessment of what will happen.
Jane, I agree! We will have socialized medicine - meaning you will sit in a waiting room till you die and every illegal immigrant in the country will get health care before citizens do. Anybody making $30k or more will have their incomes taxed to pay for everybody who doesn’t work. And on and on.
But I worry about the divisions between conservatives and that some will toss the baby out with the bath water. That’s how we ended up with a democrat congress this last time. They can’t quit arguing long enough to get anything done - but they can obstruct which they are doing.
I fear that you are correct. However, I am, and will continue to do everything in my power to prevent that from happening. I believe that Fred Thompson has the best chance of pulling off an upset over Hillbillary — yes, there will certainly be skeletons raked up — whether they are his, or not. They can be dealt with (hopefully).
