Fred Thompson is set to announce that Nashville will be the home of his national campaign headquarters, WSMV is reporting.
A source close to the campaign planning tells WSMV that that Thompson planned to announce his candidacy on the steps of the historic Fall School Building Tuesday, but Thompson campaign officials deny that Tuesday’s announcement is an official run for the White House.

Right Pundits says his announcement is ‘ho-hum’.
Gribbit has a rant. He says Fred is smart to build up so much online support without spending money while the other candidates have had their hands out for a while. He is also establishing himself as a man who does things in his own good time.

Fred is not a hip-shooter. Everything he does has a reason. He may wish to get his feed as wet as possible so folks can contribute feeling comfortable, yet hold off a bit for a rules reason. There are benefits from not announcing,

Fred may make an announcement tomorrow in Nashville, but I don’t think it will be that he is running for President. Why announce before the end of the 2nd quarter when he would have to tell how much money he’s raised……better to have a full 3 months fundraising. He might announce that he’s using the Fall School as his campaign headquarters.
