This really aggravated me. I vetted it to the point of sending the company an email. I haven’t received an answer so use your own judgment on it.

Letter from a Soldier to his friend who posted it on myspace.

I wanted to share a quick story with you and let you know of a company that recently refused services to my family because I am in the military and serving in Iraq. Recently my wife contacted Blue World Pools and spoke to a representative and had an appointment scheduled on a Tuesday (She explained that I was in Iraq and would be on the phone for the appointment) to come out to the house to do an estimate for the pool and to pick the best model for our yard. The day of the appointment severe storms arrived in Kempner and the representative for Blue World Pools called and asked my wife Jonna if the weather was really bad at the house and she told him yes. It was blowing hard with heavy rain and lightening. He asked if it would be okay if they rescheduled the appointment and she said yes. She received a call from the company stating that they could not make an appointment for her now because I was in Iraq and that it violated company policy for them to conduct business with a family who has a service member in Iraq. The company knew my wife was the sole spouse at our property when they made the original appointment and they knew she had a POA to conduct our business with my approval. I talked to the company and they said that they quit conducting business because they felt it was not in their interest to work with members of the military especially those deployed to Iraq. I wanted to let you know about this company and share this story with you. I GUESS I WOULD NOT BE AS UPSET WITH THE COMPANY HAD THEY TOLD US FROM THE BEGINNING THAT THEY DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH DISLOCATED FAMILIES. THEY DID NOT. What did stand out was when I called them from Iraq and they stated, “Because you are in Iraq we will not do business with you.”

What are military families supposed to do when our Troops are being deployed for 18 months at a time. They have to be able to function and receive services from companies.

My son has been mortared, shot at and targeted with IEDs every single day for over a year. I would think the LEAST those in this country who are not having to even THiNK about mortars and IEDs could do is do business with him and/or his family!

From the myspace blog:

I am publishing this blog to help spread the word on how a company has denied their Service to a United States Soldier due to him “Fighting in Iraq”.

The family of this Solider did not ask for a LOAN. Did not ask for an INSTALL. Did not ask for anything more than an ESTIMATE!

He was greeted that we do “not provide services to soldiers fighting in Iraq”.

This is DISCRIMINATION against a United States Soldier!

Here are our options:

We will not relent, we will not tire! We will stand firm and defeat our enemies!

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS!

Spread the word on this!
