Eva PlattI used to avoid writing anything on this blog about child abuse because dealing with the children of abusive parents is what I have done for a living for many years. I didn’t want to mix my career with my blog. That’s no longer an issue and this kind of abuse makes me sick.

I’ve seen way too many parents like this in my career to have one minutes patience with them. I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve seen parents use their children as a weapon, both emotionally and physically. I’ve seen children, infants, as young as a month sold into prostitution to pay rent. I’ve seen mothers physically throw their toddlers at police officers in order to give themselves a head start, knowing the police would stop to catch the child. I’ve seen children beaten, burned, sexually abused and every other imaginable abuse a human being can do to a child - and some we can’t even imagine in our wildest dreams.

I have seen too much of this. I know there are human parents in this world that will do things to their own children that no other animal in the animal kingdom would do. It goes against every instinct we have, but yet they are capable of doing it. I’ve seen too much of this, which is why I strongly feel these ‘parents’ who would do this type of thing, with very few exceptions, are not capable of rehabilitation. If you will do this to your child, there is something not connecting in your brain that most of us have who have the instinct to protect our children regardless of the cost to ourselves.

So - off my soapbox and on to the story.

A woman in Orlando, Fla., is accused of throwing her 2-month-old baby into a moving car during an argument with the child’s father, according to police.

Witnesses said Eva Jean Platt was arguing with her son’s father when she tossed the baby as he was preparing to leave in his car.

The 2-month-old hit the window and fell to the ground, according to witnesses.

The infant is being treated for a fractured skull and bleeding in the brain.

Platt was transported to the Orange County Jail and is being held on a $100,000 bond.

See what I mean? How do you reform someone who would do that to her own child? She should rot in jail and never see that child again - if he lives. A foster or adoptive family would have been a much better option for the child. At least the child might have had a chance. The current trend is to return children to their biological parents no matter what. The current thinking is that if the biological parents are giving classes on how to be parents, they will become better parents. That’s what everyone is doing these days. It’s not working and it won’t work because you can’t teach someone how to be a parent who doesn’t WANT to be a parent and doesn’t care about the child.

Everything is about the rights of the parents. Nothing is about the rights of the child to be raised without being beaten to a pulp on a regular basis. The parents have had their chance, usually numerous chances. Give the children a chance!
