Larry King interviewed Tammy Faye Baker Messner on his show last night. The subject was her colon and lung cancer which has progressed beyond the point of being treatable and she is in hospice care. She stopped receiving treatment in May and has lost 60 more pounds. As you can see, she’s hardly recognizable and is literally skin and bones.
“There have been many days when I felt so terrible with my back and stomach, that I have hardly been able to breathe. I cry out to the Lord knowing that many of you are praying for me.â€
I have to give her credit, she is showing enormous strength to be interviewed in the condition she is in. It has to take a huge will to get dressed, and into her trademark over done makeup to present herself to the public. She also exhibits a genuine faith and spirit in the face of what is certainly the last days of her life. Whatever you might think of Tammy Faye’s past, she is facing her death with dignity and strength.
UPDATE July 21: Tammy Faye Baker Messner died on Friday, July 20th at her home in Kansas City. Apparently just hours after the broadcast interview with Larry King (above). Services were held for her on Saturday and her ashes buried in a remote location in Kansas City. Read more here.

That is incredibly sad. I agree that she is certainly handling this with amazing dignity and grace.

I just read the news of her death and then came to your site and saw the clip. No matter what, she always had faith, which is a beautiful thing…
BSC: I didn’t know she had died!!! This video was done just two days before her death then. You really could tell it was the end. I’m so sorry to hear that.

Tammy Faye displayed amazing strength, faith and grace. It’s shocking to see how thin she had become. Her outwardly appearance was so frail yet she possessed a strength of spirit that is seldom seen. I hadn’t seen the Larry King Interview. I just had heard of her passing. Thanks for sharing the clip.
