Fantastic blog, I could not agree more! What is also of alarming concern is the recent jumping of the ship of so called Conservatives who "all of a sudden" have given up on the war, claiming that it is not able to be won. ENOUGH of this attitude. Granted Bush is not taking the cuffs of our great military and letting them do what they do best, but also could it be the very Generals he is listening to? Let us remember the military academy is all about 'cultural understanding'..My friends, it is time we stand up. Stand up and proclaim, not that this war in not able to be won, but that we demand it be won once and for all. To those in the blogosphere who think they are now on the side of good stating that this is a failed policy..I have no words for you. Support the troops, support their mission..That is all. Semper Fi!

You, my dear, hit it right on the head...

I support the troops but not the war...

Yeah, we ALL hear it, and I say it, but there are some qualifiers...

I don't think Iraq was the place we needed to be, never have and still don't, I DO believe that since we went to Iraq regardless, we might as well get the job done, no point in over 3,600 troops dying in vain, but I will NEVER believe that Iraq was where we needed to go at the time we went, but I DO support the troops, my son IS one of em, I WAS one of em, and to say you support the troops but not the war is something only a true warrior can possibly understand...

BSC: I understand your point, Fred. I disagree about the mission though. At the time I saw it as a great strategic move - we'd have had Iran surrounded. But the whole thing has been executed so poorly that it's impossible to know at this point. A strong leader could have made his case for the decision a lot clearer to the public - but it was left to the public to decipher and the media took that and ran with it. It's a foggy mess now.

Kathy,

The editor is defending it as of this point. The Florida Masochist has a quote up for the editor. He is making it a conservative vs liberal battle. He's saying the conservative blogosphere don't want to hear 'bad' stories from Iraq.

Lately, I have become more and more alarmed at the increasing boldness with which those who would divide our country and destroy our military have campaigned to change the imagery of our fighting men and women to villains. Historically, our armed forces have been heroes, but they are increasingly seen as some sort of underclass who are held in disdain, dehumanized and distrusted.
As have I; I am shocked that our troops are being equated with terrorists for defending freedom; our media portrays every action in its worst light to ensure their own countrymen are seen as the villians.

This story I understand is being proven a farce; Will the publisher correct it error; I am waiting to see with what veracity that happens.

Thanks for posting this!
