I don’t know who I’m going to vote for in November 2008. As far as I’m concerned the jury is still out on most of the candidates. There are a few I know I’m not voting for.
I have to admit, I’m impressed with Duncan Hunter more each time I hear him speak. He makes sense. The videos below are of the speech he gave at the Iowa Straw Polls. They are worth a listen.
I love the part where he says he does not like hearing people apologizing for America and failing to say ‘Way to go, Marines’ when they do great work in the Global War on Terror. YES!!! I’m so tired of people acting like they have to apologize for America as though there is something wrong with our country that needs to be apologized for! I also am sick of the democrats claiming to support the troops when all I ever hear them do is count bodies.
Hunter also promises that as President he will not allow Iran to get nuclear weapons. Thank you! Someone that understands the danger in that. The muslims have every intention of extinguishing us. They have said that repeatedly and clearly. If they could, they would do the same thing to us they are doing with the non-muslims in Darfour. They could not be clearer about that. They will undoubtedly catch us unaware again, which is nothing short of astounding considering that they have already attacked us unaware. Our attention span is pathetic. They know that by attacking us they unite us. The wild card in the scenario of whether or not we will be able to defeat them in the end is nukes. If the next surprise is nuclear, we are in trouble.
I’m giving Duncan Hunter a closer look.
I was leaning toward Romney, but his answer about his 5 sons not serving in the Military bothered me…can’t put my finger on what it was, but it felt a bit like deception. My midkid has been a Hunter fan since day one. Still don’t know who I’ll vote for, but I know who won’t get my vote.

BSC: Mine likes beef jerky for sure! lol I did not like Romney’s answer to that either! We were talking about that earlier today. It was definitely the WRONG answer to that question. I hadn’t really thought about Hunter before, but I like the way he talked in Iowa!
There are a lot of people that are getting very very excited about Hunter. He did not put his everything into the straw poll because he didn’t have the time, and thought it would thus be a waste of money to do a lot. So he used it as a guage of his hardcore support and as a way to gain new supporters, without a lot of intention on placing well.
He has perfect ratings from almost every conservative grassroot organization (the NRA, the National Right to Life, Americans for Better Immigration, Campaign for Working Families, Concerned Women for America, etc… He not only talks the talk, he really does walk the walk. I’m glad you’re going to give him a look!
