Michael Vick gave a brief statement to the press following a hearing this morning in which he plead guilty to all the crimes he has adamantly denied and claimed were upsetting his mother.
He maintained his innocence and concern for what the accusations were doing to his mother right up until his co-defendants implicated him and he couldn’t lie his way out of it any longer.
Once it was determined his property was, indeed, used for dog fights, torturing and killing dogs and racketeering, he adamantly denied any knowledge his property was being used for such horrific activities. He was appalled. Shocked and appalled and concerned about how badly this was upsetting his mother.
When it got to the point he was trapped like a rat, he became remorseful for his participation in these events. He said that he had made some bad decisions because he was pressured by his childhood friends not to change when he became wealthy and famous.
His statement to the press this morning went something like this:
Me, me, me, me. I, I, me, I, me. I, me, I, me, me, I, I.
Futhermore, I, I, I, I, me, me, me, me. I, me, I, me. Me, me, me, me, me, me.
I want to say that I, me, I, me, I, me, I, me, me, I, I, me, me, I.
Me, me, me, me. I, I, me, I, me. I, me, I, me, me, I, I.
I, I, I, I, me, me, me, me. I, me, I, me. Me, me, me, me, me, me.
And in closing I, me, I, me, I, me, I, me, me, I, I, me, me, I.
He added at the end of his statement that one good thing had come from this. He had found Jesus [and please don't take all his money away.]
Just kinda touches your heart doesn’t it!

I’m not impressed by anything he said. I am appalled by the obvious wealth, make that super wealth, lavished on these professional “players”. I think he should be smeared with bacon and given to the dogs!

I’m constantly not amazed at the number of criminals that “find Jesus” right after they’ve publicly been exposed and convicted for their inhumane acts.
I think his actions were vile. I’m still cynical about his “conversion”. It seems like a ploy to gain the sympathy of “the good people”. After all, “finding Jesus” implies repentance and contrition and the idea that everyone else must forgive the sinner.
I can’t judge the state of Michael Vick’s soul, or the truth of his conversion. Only Jesus can do that. Whether the Lord has forgiven him or not is between him and the Lord.
What’s left is between him and the state though. His actions were criminal, and whether his soul has found forgiveness or not, his body deserves incarceration and punishment.
“Finding Jesus” isn’t a get out of jail free card.

Dbl ditto what Perri said. I always wonder how Jesus gets lost and is so easily found in jail/prisons. Very few folks, in my opinion, actually have a conversion while incarcerated. Vick is sorry he got caught, sorry for what he lost and nothing else.

These guys always find Jesus when trouble has already found them. I am not really all that impressed.

God considers death by stoning to be a fitting punishment for heresy, adultery, homosexuality, and working on the sabbath; condones fathers selling their daughters into sexual slavery; and permits slavery of any type so long as you don’t injure the slaves’ eyes or teeth.
I doubt he has any problems with dogfighting…
