Wear Red On Friday Round-Up

Wear Red on FridayJust taking a Friday look at what people are talking about from my blogroll ….

Cathouse Chat is outraged and in a blog war over someone purchasing the domain name of “old dominion blog alliance” and pointing it to a site that promotes pedophilia. You can read the details of it here. Updates are here, here, here, here and here. (This really deserves your attention).

The Pirate’s Cove reports that the Charges Against Another Marine In Haditha Case To Be Dropped? (Hooah!!)

The Violence Worker wonders why Ron Paul supporters are losers.

The PC Free Zone reports that the Breck Girl is slamming Hillary over corruption. (BWAHAHAHAHA!!)

My Vast Right Wing Conspiracy - Opus cartoons have done hundreds of cartoons on the suppression of free expression caused by the Bush Administration and the Patriot Act. All of the cartoons about that were published. Now Opus is being censored, because of cartoons about islam. (I wonder if they’ll be able to connect those dots or if 1+1 will still equal 3 in Opus world.)

Southern Sass on Crime has an update on self-proclaimed pedophile Jack McClellan.

Six Meat Buffet - a little boy sketches a gun in school and gets suspended. (Most of the boys in the country will be denied an education if they are going to suspend little boys for drawing guns … sheesh, when did it get to be a crime for little boys to be interested in the things little boys are interested in?)

Conservative Thoughts has more news that’s not in the news. Washington State Democratic Congressman, Brian Baird says we need to finish the job in Iraq. (But the news is reporting as though its new news and with astonishment in their voices that Republican Senator John Warner is saying we need to abandon Iraq.)

Shadow Scope is reporting that Fidel Castro may be dead, again. Updates are at Bablu Blog. KillCastro is reporting sources from inside Cuba that an announcement is imminent. (It might be true this time.)

Planck’s Constant proves that muslims have contributed to civilization. See the Iraqi passport photo camera at his blog.

John Couey Gets Death Penalty for Horrific Murder of Jessica Lunsford

Jessica LunsfordGood!!

He will have a much easier death than he gave to Jessica Lunsford.

No tears will be shed for John Couey.

INVERNESS — John Couey will die by lethal injection for the brutal 2005 murder of Jessica Marie Lunsford of Homosassa, a judge ruled today.

The death sentence is something Jessica’s family hoped for.

“I think he needs to stand up and be a man now and take his death penalty . . . and I hope he rots in hell,” Mark Lunsford said, just a day after his daughter’s body was found buried in a shallow grave on March 19, 2005.

Couey, 49, got his death sentence from Circuit Judge Richard Howard at a 2 p.m. sentencing hearing at the Citrus County Courthouse.

Lunsford, along with his parents Archie and Ruth Lunsford also attended the hearing. The courtroom also was packed with law enforcement officials including Citrus County Sheriff Jeff Dawsy, who spearheaded the investigation. [source]

Russian President Putin Goes Topless While Fishing

The 54-year-old President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, posed topless for the cameras a few days ago. Now he’s a buff internet sensation.

It all happened when he was taking a trip to the Republic of Tuva with Prince Albert II of Monaco and others. They visited an archaeological excavation site, took a boat trip down the Yenisei River, went fishing and Putin stripped of his shirt.

This isn’t how we are accustomed to seeing presidents of nations, but you have to admit, he doesn’t look that bad topless. He also doesn’t mind that his picture was taken (quite a few of them were taken) since the photos are posted on the Kremlin website. So I’m not too worried about getting sent to Siberia for posting a few of the pictures here.

Vladimir Putin

Maybe he was just wanting to one-up French President Nicolas Sarkozy after he flashed his pecs for the paparazzi on his visit to the United States recently. Maybe he’s showing off his masculine side. Maybe he’s showing off his sex appeal. Maybe he’s hoping for a spot with Chippendales when his term as President of Russia is over. Maybe he just wanted to fish with his shirt off.

I don’t know. What do you think?

Should we be expecting a shirtless W before too long? ;)

Masked Men Set Iraqi Child on Fire

Masked men pour gasoline on a 5-year-old Iraqi boy and set him on fire for no apparent reason. This is the kind of enemy our Soldiers are fighting in Iraq. These terrorists prey on the most vulnerable and least able to defend themselves.

The attackers are cowards and this mother is taking an enormous risk to tell the story of what they did to her son. She says she wants someone to help her son, even if it means she will be killed for telling his story.

These are the people we are trying to help. The attackers are the people our enemies within want us to surrender to and leave the Iraqi people victimized by.

Surely Americans don’t cut and run in the face of ‘men’ who burn 5-year-old boys. Surely not!

Iraqi Citizen Sacrifices Himself to Save the Lives of Four US Soldiers and Eight Iraqi Citizens

Spree at Wake Up America! is reporting a story of an Iraqi citizen (hero!) who sacrificed himself to save the lives of four U.S. Soldiers and eight Iraqi citizens. She notes, and I think its interesting, that this story seems to have been overlooked by the old media.

Citizen sacrifices life to thwart suicide bomber
Multi-National Division – Center PAO

FORWARD OPERATING BASE HAMMER, Iraq – An Iraqi man saved the lives of four U.S. Soldiers and eight civilians when he intercepted a suicide bomber during a Concerned Citizens meeting in the town of al-Arafia Aug. 18.

The incident occurred while Soldiers from 3rd Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, were talking with members of the al-Arafia Concerned Citizens, a volunteer community group, at a member’s house.

“I was about 12 feet away when the bomber came around the corner,” said Staff Sgt. Sean Kane, of Los Altos, Calif., acting platoon sergeant of Troop B, 3-1 Cav. “I was about to engage when he jumped in front of us and intercepted the bomber as he ran toward us. As he pushed him away, the bomb went off.”

The citizen’s actions saved the lives of four U.S. Soldiers and eight civilians.

Kane felt the loss personally because he had met and interacted with his rescuer many times before the incident.

“He was high-spirited and really believed what the group (Concerned Citizens) was doing,” Kane said. “I have no doubt the bomber was trying to kill American Soldiers. It was very calculated the way the bomber tried to do it. If he hadn’t intercepted him, there is no telling how bad it could have been.”

Kane believes the citizen is a hero.

“He could have run behind us or away from us, but he made the decision to sacrifice himself to protect everyone. Having talked with his father, I was told that even if he would have known the outcome before hand, he wouldn’t have acted differently.”

Capt. Brian Gilbert, of Boise, Idaho, the commander of Company D, 1st Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, currently attached to 3-1 Cavalry, echoed Kane’s sentiment.

“I spoke with the father,” Gilbert said. “He said he has no remorse in his son’s death because he died saving American Soldiers.”

Later that night, the Concerned Citizens group contacted the local National Police director, Lt. Col. Samir, with the location of the al-Qaeda cell believed to be responsible for the attack. The National Police immediately conducted a raid that resulted in four arrests.

Despite the citizen’s death, Gilbert is encouraged by the cooperation between citizens and the Iraqi National Police.

“The effort of the Concerned Citizens group has made the area much safer,” he said. “They are proud of who they are and their area, and want to get rid of the terrorists in their area.”

Gilbert also praised the Iraqi National Police’s role in eliminating insurgents in the area.

“The cooperation between them and the Concerned Citizens has been key,” Gilbert said. “The NP has done a great job of responding to the tips they have been given by the group.”

Gilbert said he believes the area is improving because of the efforts of local citizens. The death, while unfortunate, demonstrated how close many in the area have become with the American Soldiers operating there.

“I consider many in the town friends, and I know they feel the same,” Gilbert said. “This is a tough situation, but we’ll move on and try to prevent things like this from happening again. I’ve talked with his family and told them how brave their son was. This is a huge loss for everyone involved.”
sourse

The father of this hero spoke about his son’s death.

“I spoke with the father,” Gilbert said. “He said he has no remorse in his son’s death because he died saving American Soldiers.”

There are those who want to abandon this war. Just like the Vietnam War - these same people want to just leave. I would have thought after the disaster of the aftermath of our abandoning Vietnam we would have learned something. Apparently, many haven’t. Repeating the same mistakes over and over and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity.

Wednesday Hero - SSgt. John T. Self

This Weeks Post Was Suggested By Kasee

SSgt. John Self

SSgt. John T. Self
29 years old from Pontotoc, Mississippi
314th Security Forces Squadron
May 14, 2007

A kindhearted patriot. That’s how SSgt. John Self was described by those who knew him. “John was a good boy, a good boy who loved his country and who loved Christ and for that he’ll move on to a better place,” said Laron Self, Sgt. Self’s grandfather, fighting back tears.

SSgt. Self was killed, and three other airmen wounded, when an IED hit the Humvee they were traveling in while on his 79th patrol in Baghdad, Iraq. “John volunteered for this deployment while he was deployed to (Southwest Asia),” said Chief Master Sgt. Keith Morris, 314th SFS security forces manager. “We discussed this deployment via e-mail. He said he made his decision to deploy again to gain experience.”

“He could always find the humor in anything regardless of the situation,” said Senior Airman Daniel Hunsperger, a member of Self’s fire team. “He believed in everything he did. This was obvious to us after learning he had only spent two weeks home between his last deployment and volunteering for this one.”

On May 23, SSgt. Self was laid to rest with a crowd of hundreds to pay their respects. People lined both sides of the highway for more than 5 miles waving flags as the hundred-car procession traveled to the burial. Shouts of, “We love you John,” and “Thank you, John, could be heard as the train of cars passed by. “That’s a hero,” Susan Chambers, one of the many mourners, said to her son as she pointed at Self’s casket.

These brave men and women sacrifice so much in their lives so that others may enjoy the freedoms we get to enjoy everyday. For that, I am proud to call them Hero.

We Should Not Only Mourn These Men And Women Who Died, We Should Also Thank God That Such People Lived

Janeane Garofalo Joins the Cast of 24

Janeane Garofalo

That’s not a joke! Its actually true. I can’t believe it!

First, they announce they are going to have a Hillary-type character as President. Then they announce they are going ‘green’ (I hate that expression - it ruins the image of a perfectly good color.). And now, NOW, they announce that Janeane Garofalo is joining the cast as a regular for the upcoming season.

Christian Activists, Jewish Settlers and Taliban Are all the Same in CNN’s Upcoming Miniseries

Newsbusters

CNN’s upcoming miniseries “God’s Warriors,” hosted by left-wing bias exemplar Christiane Amanpour, looks like it will play the old liberal game of moral equivalence. Amanpour reportedly compares Christian chastity advocates to the Taliban in the miniseries. Even the promos for the miniseries which have been running on CNN for the past few weeks demonstrate the probable “game plan” that Amanpour and CNN have in mind, grouping together pro-life Christian college students protesting in front of the Supreme Court, Jewish settlers on the West Bank, and Islamic radicals. To paraphrase an old children’s jingle, “two of these things are not like the other.”

For the life of me, I can’t understand what the main stream media and liberals think they have to gain by minimizing and trying to normalize the brutal and horrific acts of groups like the Taliban while demonizing the Christian and Jewish faiths.

Does Christiane Amanpour think they won’t haul her off into a public stadium and execute her as they have so many other women who didn’t embrace their religion? I’ve not heard of Christians or Jews executing people for not following Christianity or Judaism in literally centuries. I don’t believe the Jews ever have, but I could be mistaken about that. I also don’t hear about Christians or Jews executing people for wearing clothing they don’t approve of.

I just don’t see the comparison and I find it appalling that the left-wing radicals are trying to create an atmosphere in which we would actually be drawn into giving that a seconds thought.
