Gene Simmons Rocks With the Troops

Gene Simmons and his daughter Sophie visited our Troops at Camp Pendleton and Long Beach Veterans Hospital.

At some point, the Rock Star decided to try to get through an obstacle course and asked the staff to take him through a typical course that Marines would go through in boot camp.

Needless to say, his Rock Star status (and his age) didn’t get him through the obstacle course with any kind of dignity at all. But he had fun doing it and as usual doesn’t take himself too seriously.

Aletsch Glacier Groaned Under the Weight of Hundreds of Naked Activists

Remember when I told you about the group that was looking for volunteers to get naked to save the planet from global warming?

Well, they did.

And here they are.

Don’t you wonder what all that body heat must have done to that poor glacier? At least it was hundreds instead of thousands of naked people.

Killing Terrorists is Causing Bullet Shortage

Bullets are being put to good use ….

Troops training for and fighting the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are firing more than 1 billion bullets a year, contributing to ammunition shortages hitting police departments nationwide and preventing some officers from training with the weapons they carry on patrol.

Its been suggested that some police departments train with paint ball guns!

The pinch is blamed on a skyrocketing demand for ammunition that followed the start of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, driven by the training needs of a military at war, and, ironically, police departments increasing their own practice regimens following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The increasingly voracious demand for copper and lead overseas, especially in China, has also been a factor.

Why does China need our copper and lead? Why would we send it to them when we need it? Just wondering.

The Pirate’s Cove wonders if this means the ACLU is going to have to start supporting getting bullets for police departments now! lol

Michael Vick’s Co-defendant’s Plea Guilty Leaving Vick on His Own

Two more of Michael Vick’s co-defendants have plead guilty in the dog fighting case and implicated Vick. Those co-defendants are the last two that were charged with Vick in the dog fighting charges that lead to the federal indictments. Vick with have to cut a deal or face federal charges. He is also faced with federal racketeering charges which could result in him being banned from the NFL for life.

Vick has a deadline today for making a decision as to whether or not he will take a plea deal.

His two co-defendants added statements of fact, not part of the plea deal, stating that Vick was the primary financier of the dog fighting operation, making Vick the ‘ring-leader’ so to speak. They also admit that they along with Vick executed dogs that did not perform well. In the statement of fact they stated they watered dogs down and electrocuted them. He is implicated in the execution of at least eight dogs as per the confessions of his co-defendants.

If he were anyone other than a multi-millionaire celebrity, he would not even have the option of a plea deal after having three co-defendants testifying against him.

Stick a fork in him. He’s done.

Jose Padilla Found Guilty on All Charges

Jose Padilla was found guilty today on all three charges against him, including terrorism.

The AP is reporting:

Jose Padilla was convicted of federal terrorism support charges Thursday after being held for 3 1/2 years as an enemy combatant in a case that came to symbolize the Bush administration’s zeal to stop homegrown terror.

Padilla, Adham Amin Hassoun and Kifah Wael Jayyousi face possible sentences of life in prison if convicted of all three charges in the case.

The three are accused of being part of a North American support cell that provided supplies, money and recruits to groups of Islamic extremists. The defense contended they were trying to help persecuted Muslims in war zones with relief and humanitarian aid.
