There’s a debate going on at a sad little leftist blog about the difference between Dan Rather’s ‘fake but accurate’ news and the ‘fake but accurate’ photoshop below. Talk about parsing words, they are downright Clintonesque …. it depends on what the meaning of ‘is’ is.
Sadly, yes they use the adolescent debate tactics of a high school sophomore debate class inhabited by jocks who have to take the class to stay on the football team. When those tactics don’t get the hoped for results, they predictably take the lower road of name calling and personal insults.
For example, one post there had to do with a cartoon I had posted. The author of that post invoked the name of Julius Streicher in reference to me. It seems she took exception to the fact I had made a couple of posts in anticipation of my trip to Germany. She doesn’t seem aware of the fact that Germany is no longer under Hitler’s tyranny - thanks to Americans who beat the tar out of him. But this is the tolerant left - right?
Just as an example, they made endearing little comments like this …
Why is it that lunatics like Beth never sign up to fight the wars they champion. No, they’re all safe and sound in their kitchens and living rooms, while others do their dirty work. Killing women and children and old people isn’t an easy job…but somebody’s got to do it, right Beth? Lucky Beth, she popped a male, a male who could serve the Republican Party under George Bush. She wouldn’t have it any other way.
Isn’t that just precious? Our Soldiers killing women, children and old people - but they ’support the troops’.
Which leads me to a subsequent post over there.
Now they are having a hissy fit over this photoshop of the Code Pink girls. Still, its hard to argue that the photoshop is anything other than fake but accurate.
There you have Medea and her merry band of rich middle-aged marxist hippies trying to find meaning in their lives by embracing causes that make them feel like they are reliving their youthful glory days of protests. They are just in hog heaven. They probably wouldn’t have a problem with the photo. After all, they gave $650,000 to the terrorists fighting our soldiers thereby providing material aid and comfort to our enemies …. so yes, they do support those who are killing our Soldiers. They are probably wishing they had thought to write that on the banner themselves.

Zython - words don’t scare me. I wish I could say I was surprised at the vulgar, foaming at the mouth responses. Its a tad over the top. Unfortunately, its pretty much predictable.
As far as your words? If you were, I don’t know… lets just say … using a computer plugged into an internet system at a college in the midwest somewhere …. just as an example … why would that scare me. That’s a long way from where I am.

BSC: Zipdong, I grasp that you delude yourself that there is irony in what you tell yourself is a clever retort. I just don’t agree with your analysis of the situation. Your responses HAVE been vulgar - you and some of your comrades have called me names. One, and I don’t remember which and don’t want to wade through all the garbage over there to find it, referred to my son as ‘killing women, children and old people’. Of course, I took that personally. I didn’t like that one bit. So, whoever wrote that did draw blood. I have to give them credit for getting to me on that one. It angers me because that attitude is what is doing enormous damage to our national defense at this point not to even mention that the Soldier in question is MY SON. I view that as vulgar. I also view the name calling as vulgar - most of which I won’t repeat here because its just base.
About you exposing me as an ‘evil moron’. Kudos to you then for your make believe life. Who are you exposing me to and to what end? You see yourself coming here as the Sergeant in Arms for the Sadly Slow crowd to try to intimidate me … how? By calling me names and screeching at the highest volume your fingers can type? The only thing that has angered me is the attack on my son I mentioned before. Even the little tirade over there against my husband’s service in Vietnam only slightly irritated me.
You perceive that I don’t counter your ATTACKS (those aren’t arguments - ask one of your professors about debate tactics) because you don’t want to hear my counter argument. You tell yourself you are winning something. I have no idea what it is you think you are winning or why you want to. Believe whatever you want about me, it won’t impact my life in the slightest. I’m just another name on the internet thousands of miles away - why would it matter to you?

Well, you certainly took alot of effort to say nothing. Let me put my point in words you can understand.
Why is it that you are free to refer to the defamation of Code Pink as “fake but accurate”, but I am not free to do the same to you? Do you not understand the double standard that you are invoking? Do you not understand the hypocricy of speading slander and then calling the exact same slander “childish” and “vulger” when used against you? If you are free to question Code Pink’s motives, why am I not likewise free to question yours? How is doing this not hypocritical, immoral, and elitest?
I tried to make these issues apparant though what I said, but I see the subtle approach has failed. I have explained myself here. Will you do the same and explain yourself, or will you respond only to what you choose to read?
