MarinesIs there anything more dashing than a Marine in uniform? I don’t think so. Whether its their dress blues or combat uniform they are striking. Their precise disciplined attention to detail, their physical fitness and their confident posture set them apart. They truly are an elite force.

It seems the film commission of San Francisco doesn’t like those characteristics in a person though. They have refused the United States Marine Corp permission to film a commercial in their city. The Executive Director of the San Francisco Film Commission, Stephanie Coyote said something about there being military personnel present and it being a traffic issue.

Coyote said she’d only allow the film crew in, but no Marines. So they filmed the empty street and will superimpose the Marines onto it later.

The Marines also applied for permits to shoot on the Golden Gate Bridge that same morning, but were turned down because of similar traffic concerns.

The end result — the crew didn’t film the Marines in San Francisco at all. They had to go to the National Park Service for permission to shoot in Marin overlooking the bridge and at Kirby Cove.

“Golden Gate National Recreation Area is steeped in military tradition and we’re honored to be a part of their continued military traditions so we’re glad that we could accommodate the shoot,” said Amy Brees with the National Park Service.

Interestingly, Ms. Coyote has refused to answer any questions regarding her decision.

Of course, San Francisco has a history of this kind of nonsense and disrespect for the military. They only have tolerance for these kinds of San Franciscans. I wonder why they don’t just secede from the Union and figure out how to defend themselves from enemies foreign and domestic?

The Marines were allowed to film in Times Square in New York City.
