Mistrial for Phil Spector

Is there any way for a celebrity to be held accountable for murder in Los Angeles?

When I first heard that Phil Spector’s high-priced dream-team attorneys were using a defense that Lana Clarkson had come to his house the first time she met him and committed suicide in the foyer I was completely taken aback. I thought how could such expensive attorneys not come up with something better than that. Its so implausible.

Here’s the story …..

Here is a video I have seen numerous times on Court TV. Apparently, Spector was trying to get himself a reality TV show prior to sticking the gun in Lana Clarkson’s mouth.

I’m sure Spector is glad to get out of the more subdued wigs and suits he had to wear to coat. I imagine he’ll be back in his heels, wigs and make-up before long - if not already. Hopefully, he will be more careful about waving his guns around and maybe even stop his habit of sticking guns in women’s mouths when they try to leave his house.

I thought the prosecutor was very sharp and did a great job. He probably over charged the case. I understand he’s going to re-try it. Hopefully, justice will be done at the next trial.

It would be nice if we had some level of accountability in this country.

The US Marine Corps

I wish I had found this video yesterday when I was looking for a silent drill team video for the post I wrote about San Francisco refusing to allow the Marines to film there.

I think this really illustrates the reasons why some in San Francisco - or some who inhabit dark corners of the internet - hate the military. You have to remember that these are generally the same people who don’t want children to be graded in school for fear it will hurt their self esteem, or sports to be diluted so that everyone gets trophies. The basic problem with that is it takes away any motivation to excel. Even worse, it damages the self esteem of anyone involved. Self esteem is gained by accomplishing tasks that are difficult, working towards a goal that requires hard work and sweat, pushing yourself farther than you dreamed you could go. You can’t GIVE someone self esteem. You can’t give meaningless trophies or pats on the back when nothing has been accomplished and increase anyone’s self esteem. If the grades are EARNED, if the goal is ATTAINED, if the person finds it within themselves to push another step and another step, they will know that they accomplished something. They will know they earned it. That is what builds self-esteem.

The Marines walk with pride and an air of confidence because of just that. They have accomplished what few can or will. They have pushed themselves and done it themselves. They are Marines.

You’ve gotta love them!! They make me so proud!!

We Didn’t Start the Fire

I had no idea that Billy Joel’s song ‘We Didn’t Start the Fire’ had so much history in it. My friend, another Beth, recommended this video of it today. I understand that teachers are using it in classrooms to teach American history.

Cool.

Quote of the Day 20

It is depressing to look back at history and see how regularly the same nice-sounding idea — “let’s take the land from the rich people who unjustly own it and give it to those who need it” — turns into tragedy for everyone. It’s even more depressing to realize that despite the seeming predictability of the result, lots of people want to do it anyway.

Obama’s Double Standards

MoodPennies News
By Doug Mathis

CHICAGO, Illinois - Barack Obama’s stance on gay marriage is in question, among other significant presidential issues. Attempting to gain the African American vote, Obama has preached against gay marriage in black communities but, at the same time, taken out full page ads in gay newspapers. Obama realizes that African Americans are against gay marriage and speaks out against it only to achieve their vote. Obama has also been a key component of the Democratic environmental stance, a la Al Gore. However, while he speaks to the public about fuel-efficient hybrids and denounces automakers for their big vehicles, he drives his family around in a V8 Hemi-powered Chrysler 300C. The 340-horsepower sedan’s performance falls short of any energy effective hybrid.

I guess his stance on issues depends on what audience he’s talking to at the time.

I’m just saying ……

Do I Even Need A Caption? Homosexuals Mock Last Supper With Sex-Toys

These same people get upset over the mohammad cartoons.

I wonder if the media will cover this like it did the Mohammed cartoons! I doubt it, unless you think Christians will hit the streets in riots burning everything in site.Organizers of San Francisco’s Folsom Street Fair, sponsored by Miller Brewing Co., have portrayed Christ and his disciples as half-naked homosexual sadomasochists in the events promotional advertisement, and the conservative group Concerned Women for America is complaining about the hypocrisy of it. The bread and wine representing Christs broken body and lifegiving blood are replaced with sadomasochistic sex toys in this twisted version of Da Vinci’s The Last Supper, CWA said on its Web site.

Gay activists disingenuously call Christians haters and homophobes for honoring the Bible, but then lash out in this hateful manner toward the very people they accuse, said said Matt Barber, CWA’s policy director for cultural issues.

Keeping Watch

American Soldiers

U.S. soldiers wait for newly trained Iraqi police officers to arrive in Salem, Iraq, on Sept. 21. The soldiers will help more than 750 new police officers travel to another location, where senior Iraqi police will introduce the new officers to the police force.
Senior Master Sgt. Brian L. Boone/Air Force

Here is a list of the September Army Promotions. I know someone on that list, but I can’t say who :)

Congratulations to all of our Soldiers who are doing such a wonderful job and especially congratulations to those who received promotions in September. Hooah!!

Wednesday Heroes - Lance Cpt Cory Jamieson and Cpl Jeremy David Allbaugh

Lance Cpl. Cory Jamieson
Lance Cpl. Cory Jamieson
Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania
Personal Security Detachment, Headquarters and Support Company, Task Force 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, attached to Regimental Combat Team 2

Hippocrates once said, “Art is long, life is short”.

Cpl. Jeremy David Allbaugh lived a short life. But, he was immortalized recently in acrylics by a Lance Cpl. Jamieson who painted a mural in his honor.

“I feel sad because it is for him, but it makes me happy because I can still do something for him,” said Lance Cpl. Jamieson. “I thought about it during the ceremony in the chapel. I looked up at the stained glass windows and I thought ‘I should do something like that’”.

Along with help from family, a fellow Marine and a Morale, Welfare and Recreation manager, Jamieson had the paint and tools needed.

“I would paint eight or nine hours in the gym and time would fly by,” Jamieson said.

Jeremy David Allbaugh

Cpl. Jeremy David Allbaugh, 21 years old from Luther, Oklahoma, was killed by a roadside bomb on July 5, 2007 while conducting combat operations in Qaim, Iraq.

“He believed very strongly in what our country’s doing,” said his mother, Jenifer Allbaugh. “They were doing good things over there, and we don’t see that in the news or media. There’s a lot of progress being made. I wish more people would talk to our boys who are in it and not our politicians because they see it firsthand”.

These brave men and women sacrifice so much in their lives so that others may enjoy the freedoms we get to enjoy everyday. For that, I am proud to call them Hero.

We Should Not Only Mourn These Men And Women Who Died, We Should Also Thank God That Such People Lived

Spare a Thought for the Fruit that Wasn’t Lucky Enough to End up in Ski

Lucky Fruit WallpaperDid you know that Jamaica passion fruit is called sweet cup? I didn’t either. That’s one of the many things I learned at the new Ski Yogurt Lucky Fruit website.

The Ski Yogurt people are seriously excited about fruit! They have a great website that has a great web design and tons of information about fruit. I didn’t know there was so much to know about fruit. They also offer free stuff like the free wallpaper design and screen savers I grabbed and put on this post. Actually, the fruit pictured in the post I cropped out of one of their wallpaper designs. That fruit is lucky fruit.

They have fruit trivia competitions (with prizes!) and you absolutely MUST look at the Ski TV adverts! They are HILARIOUS!! I laughed, I felt sad for the unlucky fruit and happy for the lucky fruit. Mostly I laughed like an idiot - they are hilarious. Go watch them!

You can create and upload your own Ski Yogurt Unlucky Fruit Pulped Fiction video. You can see a few of the uploaded Pulped Fiction videos over there now. Its really very sad what happens to the poor unlucky fruit that doesn’t get to be a part of the Ski Yogurt and the lucky fruit.

I have to admit, I really enjoyed their website!

San Francisco Refuses to Allow Marines to Film Commercial

MarinesIs there anything more dashing than a Marine in uniform? I don’t think so. Whether its their dress blues or combat uniform they are striking. Their precise disciplined attention to detail, their physical fitness and their confident posture set them apart. They truly are an elite force.

It seems the film commission of San Francisco doesn’t like those characteristics in a person though. They have refused the United States Marine Corp permission to film a commercial in their city. The Executive Director of the San Francisco Film Commission, Stephanie Coyote said something about there being military personnel present and it being a traffic issue.

Coyote said she’d only allow the film crew in, but no Marines. So they filmed the empty street and will superimpose the Marines onto it later.

The USMC Silent Drill Team

The Marines also applied for permits to shoot on the Golden Gate Bridge that same morning, but were turned down because of similar traffic concerns.

The end result — the crew didn’t film the Marines in San Francisco at all. They had to go to the National Park Service for permission to shoot in Marin overlooking the bridge and at Kirby Cove.

“Golden Gate National Recreation Area is steeped in military tradition and we’re honored to be a part of their continued military traditions so we’re glad that we could accommodate the shoot,” said Amy Brees with the National Park Service.

Interestingly, Ms. Coyote has refused to answer any questions regarding her decision.

Of course, San Francisco has a history of this kind of nonsense and disrespect for the military. They only have tolerance for these kinds of San Franciscans. I wonder why they don’t just secede from the Union and figure out how to defend themselves from enemies foreign and domestic?

The Marines were allowed to film in Times Square in New York City.

Iranian Reports a Triumph for Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

I hate to say ‘I told you so’ - but ‘I told you so’! Just as planned and orchestrated, the useful idiots at Columbia University played into the hands of the little Persian petty tyrant Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Surely, this can’t come as a surprise to anyone!

Here’s how his triumphant reception at a major American university came down in the Iranian news. (via Captain’s Quarters)

Despite entire US media objections, negative propagation and hue and cry in recent days over IRI President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s scheduled address at Colombia University, he gave his lecture and answered students questions here on Monday afternoon.

On second day of his entry in New York, and amid standing ovation of the audience that had attended the hall where the Iranian President was to give his lecture as of early hours of the day, Ahmadinejad said that Iran is not going to attack any country in the world.

Before President Ahamadinejad’s address, Colombia University Chancellor in a brief address told the audience that they would have the chance to hear Iran’s stands as the Iranian President would put them forth.

He said that the Iranians are a peace loving nation, they hate war, and all types of aggression.

Referring to the technological achievements of the Iranian nation in the course of recent years, the president considered them as a sign for the Iranians’ resolute will for achieving sustainable development and rapid advancement.

The audience on repeated occasion applauded Ahmadinejad when he touched on international crises.

At the end of his address President Ahmadinejad answered the students’ questions on such issues as Israel, Palestine, Iran’s nuclear program, the status of women in Iran and a number of other matters.

That’s it, the report in its entirety. Bollinger who? He’s never mentioned, nor is his attempt to redeem himself by calling Ahmadinejad a ‘petty tyrant’ in his opening remarks. Instead, its a triumph for Ahmadinejad. As I said before, it doesn’t matter how it went down, he got what he wanted.

Ahmadinejad entered New York City, the belly of the beast, and emerges the great conquerer. So says Ahmadinejad, so reports the Iranian news.

Regardless of how my new best friends over at that Sadly Sad place think you should play chess - this isn’t it. I think we need to plan our next move very carefully or the queen will be cornered.
