I have been agonizing over what to get people for Christmas this year. Since we are planning on being in Germany for Christmas I can’t do my usual last minute running around to find something. Plus, I want to find something uniquely American to take to my soon to be shirt-sleeve relatives in Germany. I have NO IDEA what to get for them.

I always need to get my husband’s granddaughters something early since they live in another part of the country. We have to mail those off and, after all, they are really the kids in the family so in many ways those are the most important gifts. I went to a website called collectablestoday.com and found some really awesome and unique ideas for Christmas Gifts for granddaughters and other people on my list.

My husband’s granddaughters are very girly-girls so it definitely has to be something feminine. I think that I’ve decided on this Heirloom Porcelain® collectible granddaughter angel figurine. The figurine holds five jeweled, heart-shaped charms. On each charm is a wish for the children. The wishes are ‘peace’, ‘love’, ‘joy’, ‘hope’ and ‘faith’. I like giving gifts like that because they are something they will keep. They aren’t just a toy that will be thrown away at some point, but something that will hopefully mean something to them as they get older. My hope is that they will enjoy the pieces and remember how much we love them every time they look at them.

Its a limited edition so I’ll have to hurry and order it.

As for my soon-to-be German relatives, I’m seriously thinking of this John Wayne knife for my son’s future father-in-law! What do you think? Is that a good idea? It IS uniquely American. Its a limited edition item as well so I’ll have to decide soon. I’ll have to find out if he likes John Wayne and if so that might be just the thing for him.
