Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has never minced words or been unclear about his intentions to destroy the United States and Israel. From time to time I’ve wondered if its frustrating to him and others that we just don’t seem to hear them at all. The more we don’t hear them, the more they up the ante.

Now they are drawing us pictures. In the video linked above we are treated to a visual of their intentions for us. During a military inspection by Iranian Leader Ali Khamenei foot-drills show a sword ripping through a U.S. Flag decorated with a swastika and a Star of David. They didn’t bother with subtle imagery.

And still the left is in denial.

There is no reason why we should all be so worried about islamofacism. A DailyKos diarist has the answer to the whole War on Terror thing. Just convert to Islam. No problem.

While it appears from more than one point of view that the War in Iraq and the War on Terror are situations from which we may never be able to extricate ourselves, from the mountains of Pakistan comes a very simple solution: convert to Islam.

Before we reject this out of hand, lets seriously consider it for a moment: Osama Bin Laden promised the wars would be over if Americans convert to Islam.

This may sound like a lot to ask from the most religious country in the industrialized world. But of all the Christians in America today who profess to be religious, how many of us are seriously devout?

How many of us are really just religious lightweights, happy to simply go to church every Sunday, attend church socials, knock back a drink or two every Christmas and not worry ourselves about the deeper implications of our faith?

Given the way most of us pay any real attention to the tenets of our faith, life really wouldn’t be that different if we were to exchange one faith for another. The prayers would be different, but we would recite them just as mindlessly as we do today. The sermons would in all likelihood be exactly the same, and we’d continue to snore through them.

Sure, there are a few people here and there who take religion seriously, but they are in such a small minority that their protests can be easily ignored.

Do you think this was written seriously? Is this person really so naive and does this person have such a simplistic view of the world that this seems like a viable option?

Once again, America has blundered into an un-winnable war. It is beyond my understanding why we, as Americans, continue to behave in this aggressive manner towards all things that don’t suit us at any given moment.

This latest battle in California is just one example of our persistence in imposing our will and our empire on all things of the earth. It makes me ashamed to be an American.

As pointed out by IMAO we have gone into a war with nature, in this case fires, in California without giving a single thought to an exit strategy. How will we get out of this? What will we define as ‘victory’? We can’t win it. We have no choice but to turn tail and leave.

To our great shame, there has been MASSIVE water torture conducted on the fire which has only angered it more.

If we are to learn to live as one with the rest of the world we need to learn to embrace fire and love it to start healing the wounds of our past aggression towards it.

Time to come up with an exit strategy! Time to leave! Let the fire live as it wishes to live, its none of our business.

I changed one setting in WP control panel and all the formatting for my blog disappeared. I am SO FRUSTRATED with this. I have no earthly idea why it keeps going whacky.

I’m working on it. Please bear with me while I try to figure out why my blog has gone completely crazy. Or I throw the computer out the window and give up the internet altogether. At this point its a toss-up as to which route I go.

Oh - I know, I’m too addicted to give it up - but I’m REALLY tired of this.

Its a beautiful fall day in Georgia. We’ve had good drenching rain most of the week (hallelujah!) and the rain brought cold air with it. Its crisp and lovely outside. Even some of the trees are starting to show traces of yellow and red. Couldn’t be better!

Jamal al-Badawi was one of the al-Qaeda masterminds behind the bombing of the USS Cole in 2000 that killed 17 American Sailors. His group was also blamed for the bombing of a French oil tanker in 2002 and an ancient temple earlier this year that killed eight Spanish tourists. He was released by the Yemeni government after promising to never ever do that again!

He originally was sentenced to death for his murder of American Soldiers. That sentence was commuted to 15 years in prison. He has escaped twice, the first time in 2003 and the second time in 2004. He has not been in prison since his second escape. Tribal elders brokered him turning himself in a couple of weeks ago after his latest escape because he ‘renounced jihad’. But then, Jihad isn’t a crime in Yemen.

In other words, this murderer of American Sailors, al-Qaeda fighter and enemy combatant has spent very little time in prison.

He is now a free man because he promised he wouldn’t do jihad again.

Meanwhile, al-Qaeda is actively recruiting suicide bombers in Yemen.

Also Thursday, a second security official said police have uncovered a terrorist cell composed of four extremists who were recruiting young Yemenis to carry out suicide attacks in Iraq and elsewhere.

The four were allegedly receiving funds from abroad and were recruiting young men in their twenties from mosques and religious seminars during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, said the official, citing their confessions. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media.

So, he and his buddies blow up a United States war ship, kill US Sailors and basically get away with it. They have conducted and pulled off other attacks since then that have resulted in the deaths of foreign nationals (the French and Spanish). They are known to be currently actively recruiting suicide bombers, receiving Osama bin Laden funds and working to radicalize whatever muslim youth are not already radicalized in Yemen.

And now he and others are free to continue their activities unfettered.

So much for the criminal justice model for dealing with enemies of the State. How safe do you feel?

Update: And just yesterday Bush praised Yemen for its role in combating terrorism through Francis Townsend, Bush’s assistant for Internal Security and Combating Terrorism Affairs.

Ted Rall is a cartoonist who apparently spends a great deal of his time bitterly lashing out against our Troops. I’ve wondered before what kind of mind comes up with this kind of seditious hate-filled lunacy.

I can only assume the guy has issues (to put it mildly) with manly men. Maybe he’s jealous, or has been rejected by one or more over the years. Whatever the cause, he obviously just doesn’t like or understand men who do manly things.

In this example of his undermining the American military he refers to the deaths of our Soldiers and Marines as the process of natural selection. It seems to be more the process of reverse evolution. The strong protect the weak and too often the weak are left to pass on their genes while the strong are not. It depletes the gene pool for future generations. Just look at the French - they are still recovering their gene pool from the Napoleonic wars.

His cartoons are not very creative, they are just mean, stupid and show a complete lack of insight and understanding of society. Meanwhile, he undermines our military and America. He disgusts me.

Bush managed to use the word “Islamo-fascism” one time before CAIR and the Islamo-fascist coalition howled and he retreated. What we are doing is putting the name of the enemy on the national radar. To be sure, a good part of the college curriculum teaches that Bush, rather than the Islamo-fascists, is responsible for the war on terror and America is the Great Satan. So yes, we are providing a counter-curriculum.

But the larger agenda is create a national movement to stand up to the coalition between Islamo-fascists and American liberals at home who are running interference for the terrorists. The coalition attacking Islamo-fascism Awareness Week extends from the Iranians and CAIR through the Revolutionary Communist Party to Campus Progress (an offshoot of the Hillary-Soros-Podesta operation) and College Democrats.

Horowitz was invited to speak at Emory University in Atlanta this week and then was shouted down by the leftists fascists in the audience who did not what to allow him free speech or respect the rights of those in the audience who came to hear his speech. Another blow to free thought, independent thought and free speech on the campuses across our country that are ‘educating’ the next generation!

Jihad defined: The long term goal of jihad is world domination – a global islamic state under islamic law. Jihad is not, as some Western apologists claim, simply a striving for individual perfection.

I just ran across this new WordPress plugin that takes the do-follow plugin up another level. Its called CommentLuv. What it does is add another level of linkie-luv for people who comment on your blog.

With this plugin - you not only follow the comment, but it inserts a link to their last post under their comment. Pretty cool. I haven’t uploaded it yet, but will soon and see how it works.

I found this well thought out article on the rise of the South in spite of the disdain with which we are held by our Northern brothers, the elite and people like Howard Dean who in all seriousness referred to how well he related to Southerners in their pick-up trucks with rifles in their back windows. They don’t even know the many ways they demean us.

For generations, American elites from the North have treated the South as a benighted land of knaves, fools, and charlatans, a proper subject of scorn and satire and certainly not a region to be admired or emulated. They are comically wrong.

The South has long risen from the ashes of the Civil War, and by many measures it the most admirable region of our nation. It may well be on the verge of becoming America’s dominant region, eclipsing the Eastern Seaboard that has reigned from our nation’s birth, and sprinting past the ambitions of the West Coast challenge, as the reference point for where America is going and as the heart of American culture.

I’ve seen some of these changes … I almost hate it in a way. I always thought the South was one of the country’s best kept secrets. As long as Northerners think they are taking their lives in their hands to step foot down here we have it to ourselves. I like the South the way it is in spite of the fact others in the nation believe every stereotype they’ve ever heard about it.

When Katrina hit New Orleans I heard someone from Europe being interviewed about the American reaction to that crisis. The person said something to the effect that America was such a new country that we hadn’t had to deal with natural disasters taking out cities like most other civilizations. I thought at the time that person had hit the nail on the head.

From the time I heard that statement the reaction only got worse and worse.

Now we find ourselves with another city, actually another entire area, of the country threatened with disaster. This time people aren’t claiming that any particular ethnic group is being purposely left to die and conspiracy theories haven’t surfaced - yet. But while the fire is still raging and people are still in danger the fingers of blame have already started pointing.

Its the President’s fault (that’s a given). Its the war’s fault (that’s another given). Its global warming (the sky is falling, the sky is falling!). On and on and on. Its all very predictable in our society, unfortunately.

We currently live in a society in which it is acceptable to use any event, regardless of how tragic, to further ones own personal agenda. We live in a society that has a media system that pretty much openly twists and turns stories to suit their political agenda (that’s called propaganda). We live in a society where someone has to be to blame for everything that happens, even hurricanes and wild fires that have raved this land since before mankind ever stepped foot on it.

We enjoy freedoms that no other society in history has enjoyed. The problem is that we’ve become a society that has freedom without responsibility. Its a dangerous path we are on.

As Ronald Reagan points out, every generation has its own struggle for freedom. We are now struggling for ours and for the America we will leave for our children and grandchildren. I hope we are up to the task and won’t let down our parents and ancestors who left freedom for us.

We will not tire. We will not falter. We will not fail.
