I know this is in the way back machine, but, at least you didn't get hacked. Some SOB changed my htaccess file with a 301 redirect, was probably that way for almost 4 hours. Probably a Ron Paul supporter who was pissed off :)

Oh David! That's so much work. I'm afraid I might have to breakdown and start comparing, line to line, the databases. Blah! Tedious!

Thanks for the suggestions.

I wonder why this theme works and others don't. Although, I still don't have anything in my archives page.

Teach - I switched themes around and it did the same thing - even with the default theme. For some reason the navigation is working with this theme. I updated to 2.3.

That's a good suggestion about the plug-ins. I was having another problem and when I disabled the Linkfest plug-in it quit. I have NO IDEA why there was a conflict with that plug in. I'll try to disconnect some plugins.

This theme is making me dizzy. :)

I cannot use one of my themes at all anymore, at lest not as a 3 column theme, due to WP 2.3 upgrade. Put a lot of work into it, too.

The causes can be quite diverse, Beth.

Databse table (repair via restore from backup or through your hosting service's MYSQL database services)
Corrupt php file in your template (changing themes may well do something there :-))
WT has a point: sometimes a new plugin will cause problems

Heck, I've had major problems similar to this caused by a bad DIV in a post! Worse caused by (my bad) insertion of an improperly formed DIV in a configuration file (oops! :-))

Consider downloading your config php files and then comparing them to known good backups. DiffDog is one app that makes comparing php files easy (30-day trial available); there are others (just search for "php compare") and, of course, you can load php files as simple text files and do a line-by-=line comparison manually.

Or just upload known good backups of your php configuration files and see if that helps.

That was happening to me awhile ago. It was caused by a plugin, cannot remember exactly which, but I think it was a sticky post type one, though.
