Wouldn’t it be great to retire young! I know a few people who have managed to do that and others who have worked their entire life. My husband always says he’s going to die in the saddle. A lot of people feel that way. My mother has retired several times and keeps on going back to work. The thing is, its a choice. If you want to retire young and continue to work when you want to work, great. If you want to retire young and take trips, have the best looking lawn in the neighborhood or spend your time in a hammock, its entirely up to you. That’s the kind of freedom of choice that most people really long for.

To do that, we need to start planning early. That seems like such a simple concept, but the reality is that too many of us leave our estates to chance. Did you know that 100 years ago the average life expectancy in the United States was 47 years? Now its double that and yet many of us don’t consider how we will spend those extra years at the other end of our lives. We especially don’t consider it when we are young and can do more about it. What do you know about medicaid and elder care? Most of us know very little, if anything, about it. Yet, if we life to our life expectancy we will have to deal with those issues.
