Military schools are often a good alternative to the public school system when a teenager needs more structure and discipline than is offered in the public school system. They are not designed for teens that have significant emotional or mental illnesses. They are, however, designed for a particular niche of teenagers who are having difficulty in public schools due to a lack of discipline and/or direction.
I was looking at a Military School Directory that offers a directory of military schools through out the United States as well as options for other types of alternative schools and information on what to expect from a military school and what types of teenagers can benefit the most from a military school environment. There is also a history of military schools and general information about military schools. There has been a resurgence in these schools in recent years and many of them have long waiting lists from parents who are looking for help with giving their children a good start in life.
Military schools operate on a tried and true theory of education as opposed to whatever the current educational theories are at any given time. They rely on hard work, loyalty, a sense of community, individual purpose and personal discipline. We all know that many of today’s elite consider that philosophy to be too simplistic, but a quick glance around at the schools that these sophisticates have created is enough to understand why so many parents are turning to schools that practice the ‘back to basics’ approach. It has worked for generations and continues to work when it is not hindered with faddish theories on education. The quality of academics is often superior to that in public schools. It is truly a reasonable alternative to a public school education for students who learn better in more structured environments.
