Friends and classmates of a 16-year-old girl who police say was murdered by her devout Muslim father in a Toronto suburb told local media Tuesday she was killed for not wearing a hijab.
Police said in a statement they received an emergency call at 7:55 am local time Monday from “a man who indicated that he had just killed his daughter.”
The victim, Aqsa Parvez, was “rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, but tragically passed away late last night.”
Her father, Muhammad Parvez, 57, was arrested at the scene and will be formally charged with murder when he appears in court Wednesday, said police.
Such tolerance. Such peace. Howie at The Jawa Report calls it the “Religion of murdering your own daughter for honor.”

If there is an absolute in Our Western Society, murder for any reason is not tolerated. I know of know woman or man, liberal or conservative who would sanction such actions on anyones part. In today’s Washington Post is an article about Muslim girls in Baghdad being threatened by Mahdi Army brats with this same practice. The unintended consequence of our killing, arresting or frightening away the leaders and middle leaders of the Mahdi Militia is 12-15 year old boys stepping in to those roles and creating what at first looks like a new Taliban in Iraq. It is one thing to have strict codes of dress, it is another and intolerable that murder is the penalty.

Islam did NOT kill this girl, no more than Christianity killed Megan Meier!
Keep in mind this is a single instance of a crime. Compare it with the video that pops up now and again of a stalker abducting a young woman who is later found dead. Aqsa Parvez’s death is NOT a normal “islamic event.†I remember a kid in 1st grade whose Christian mother forced him to kneel in rock salt when he was bad until his knees bled. When he was 12 she beat him so badly he lost hearing in one ear. Parents are sometimes overprotective, sometimes STUPID, like the woman who created the phony MySpace page that led to the suicide of Megan Meier. But that’s another story…
