Politics. I know many of us follow and mentally grade out politicians for their actions, and base our voting decisions on said grades. Many of us ignore the salacious gossip and rumors that follow our candidates until facts become available. And many don’t.
I do not care if Barrack Hussein Obama is bi-racial. I do care about his Muslim affiliation, and care more so about his lack of experience.
Mitt Romney is a Mormon….so what ? Don’t care about that, but do care that he has 5 healthy sons, none of whom have volunteered to serve in our Military. During a time of war. It doesn’t sit well with me.
Mrs. William Clinton has worried me since the early ’90’s. She is sneaky, devious, given to prevarication, and not someone I ever want to see holding the highest office in the land. Plus, I have a grudge against any woman that thinks there’s something wrong with cookie-baking women. It’s women like her that are 95% responsible for the shape our families and children are in today. Yes, you can have it all, but at what cost, Hillary ?
Rudy Guliani, or Rudolph the fork tongued RINO, lacks the ability to be faithful. I have no problem with his being “America’s mayor”, or a short, bald Italian dude. I do have a problem with slut puppies. If you cannot be faithful to your own wife, how can you remain faithful to your God, and your Country ? He took an oath/vow how many times now ?
John Edwards… I could care less about his hair. Or whether he was raised poor and worked hard. Many have done that. Big whoop. I do care about his money squandering. What the man paid to have his hair done could feed Ethiopia for a year. Maybe 2.
I don’t care that Fred Thompson is old and laid back. I do care that he shows absolutely no passion for the office of President.
John McCain…I could care less about his age. I do care about his overtly liberal ideas and that he strives for political correctness.
Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul….I have no problem with them being moonbats and proudly wearing tin foil hats. As with Edwards, I have a problem with the wasting of money. Why waste so much , knowing full well you have a zero chance ? Is fame that alluring and seductive that you sell your soul for name recognition ? Somewhere, right now this second, a child is going hungry, and someone else is dying because there is no money for their medicine.
Mike Huckabee…goodness what a surge in the polls he has had. He appeared to represent a lot of peoples core values. I have no problem with anything he has said . I have a huge problem with him trying to get his son out of a legal jam.
In 1998, Huckabee’s then 17 year old “Boy Scout” son, tortured, hung and gutted a dog. That’s just simple fact. ( oh..it’s also a misdemeanor, not a felony in Arkansas ).
From Newsweek, the following:
The incident led to the dismissal of David Huckabee, then 17, from his job as a counselor at Camp Pioneer in Hatfield, Ark. It also prompted the local prosecuting attorney— bombarded with complaints generated by a national animal-rights group—to write a letter to the Arkansas state police seeking help investigating whether David and another teenager had violated state animal-cruelty laws. The state police never granted the request, and no charges were ever filed. But John Bailey, then the director of Arkansas’s state police, tells NEWSWEEK that Governor Huckabee’s chief of staff and personal lawyer both leaned on him to write a letter officially denying the local prosecutor’s request. Bailey, a career officer who had been appointed chief by Huckabee’s Democratic predecessor, said he viewed the lawyer’s intervention as improper and terminated the conversation. Seven months later, he was called into Huckabee’s office and fired. “I’ve lost confidence in your ability to do your job,” Bailey says Huckabee told him. One reason Huckabee cited was “I couldn’t get you to help me with my son when I had that problem,” according to Bailey. “Without question, [Huckabee] was making a conscious attempt to keep the state police from investigating his son,” says I. C. Smith, the former FBI chief in Little Rock, who worked closely with Bailey and called him a “courageous” and “very solid” professional.Huckabee called Bailey’s account “totally untrue” and described him as a “bitter” exemployee. “I asked him to resign because he had so alienated the entire state police,” he said. “It had nothing to do with my son.” Brenda Turner, Huckabee’s then chief of staff, and Kevin Crass, the Huckabee family lawyer, also disputed Bailey’s account, although both acknowledged talking to him about the dog killing. “I asked him, ‘Is it normal for the state police to … investigate something that happened at a Boy Scout camp?’ ” Turner says. “We wanted the same treatment that anybody else would get.” Animal cruelty in Arkansas is a misdemeanor, not a felony.
Ok..I know it was his son, not Huckabee that did this. Quite often the children of the privileged and powerful feel they are entitled, and the parents are not always responsible for those feelings. HOWEVER, when a parent takes punitive action against others for their childrens’ misdeeds, rather than holding their child accountable, the parents’ integrity is questionable. I can’t help but question the motives of a churchleader/politician as the ethos of these two occupations are diametrically opposed.
On Larry King tonight, Huckabee squirmed a bit and tried to minimize his son’s sadistic behavior. He said something about the dog had mange, was emaciated…blah, blah. So this necessitated the stoning, hanging, throat slitting of a sick little dog ? What would he allow his son to get away with if were to be President ?
I really hate it when folks don’t have enough heart and soul to step up and take responsibility for their actions. I’m truly bothered that someone can do this, and still be an Eagle Scout. The Girl Scout in me is screaming…say it ain’t so !!!!!

Maybe its unfair to hold the long-ago acts of a candidate’s child against someone running for office today, but as a former Boy Scout (and former Boy Scout camp staff member as well as Eagle Scout) and lifelong fan of “man’s best friend,” I find this story appalling.
